Saw this on BBC4 last night. The quest to become a top French Pastry Chef.

Quite apart from the human aspect, the sugar creations and little pastries are amazing!

Its a repeat I saw it last time. Pretty amazing though.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

We've just watched this and really, really enjoyed it. Ta very much for the recommendation. Dremels for cooking eh?

Will try and watch more stuffs from the series when i-player stops being an idiot.

The bit that captivated me was the guy making the stripy sugar ribbon, by stretching the stuff and matching the edges up and stretching it again and matching it up etc. Partly for the artistry and craft of what he was doing - sugar craft has always fascinated me, like when they make rock giant with great big blocks to make the letters through the middle and then just roll and roll it until it's gob-sized - but because they just showed him doing it, in silence. No commentary from him, no narration over the top explaining what he was doing, no music. A refreshing change from most TV and film these days.
