Was hoping to get out this evening to give the Kaffenback a bit of a shake down following deep clean, general tinkering and new chainset before my Flatliners attempt at the weekend. Without warning or being able to prepare myself mentally, we have somehow acquired a lodger in the shape of my mother in law for the week so feel it would not be good etiquette for me to disappear off for the evening.
Maybe next week if legs allow.....

I will not be in attendance. i have discovered, belatedly, that a horizontal posture is considerably preferable to a vertical one and I am much more comfortable lying in bed, Mrs. Wow attending to my every need.

Get well soon Wow. I am sure the inestimable Mrs Wow is attempting to knit you a new leg at this very moment. All power to her whirling elbows.

A pint of Northern Lights, from an Orkney brewer, went down a treat! Felt good to get the Pomp out again even with the soaking I got on the return. Chatted about things audaxie.

Blimey I didn't realise that beer was from Orkney although the name should have been a clue. Oh the shame of it, all those beer miles.

Still, it was a very pleasent evening.

Over the last couple of weeks we have tried out a couple of new local refreshment stops which we're more than happy to recommend.

Firstly, The Red Dog Cafe & Restaurant in Inworth on the road up from Kelvedon to Tiptree.  We had some very nice coffee plus banana loaf in the cafe bit and are planning to visit the restaurant one evening.

Secondly, the Braxted Bakery & Tearoom.  The cake is delicious and we liked the loo as well  ;D

Anyone around on Wednesday evening?  I was wondering about one of the pubs in Danbury, I'm not sure I've been to any of them.

The Cricketers is/was good (not been there for ages) but I don't recall visiting any of the others.

Anyone else fancy Danbury?

I could be tempted. I'll probably make my own way to Danbury (legs not quite up-to-speed, but done a couple of rides), but I'm not sure I've been to any pubs there either! Though I have been to one halfway up TMNH.

I'm around.

Cricketers was fine last time I did it (but that was quite a while back).

The Griffin was nice when I went with mrs_o late last year, although it did feel like quite a food-oriented place (pizzas were good!).

I've often wondered about the Bakers Arms... never been in there.

ETA: The Griffin is a free house with regularly changing real ales.  The Bakers is a Gray and Sons house, which lists it's beer range as "The beers that are usually sold here are: Greene King IPA, Fosters, Carling, Kronenbourg, Becks Vier and Guinness.  There is always Guest Bitters on offer."

Shortly after dawn and shortly after The Current Mrs R left for work I prepared a route just in case the pubs of Danbury idea gained favour.

Happily it passes very close to Oaky Towers.  I am likely to be leaving at 7:30pm so could be with you shortly after.

Anyone else interested?

OD, seeing as you're trying to confuse your satnav again, do you have an ETA on pub arrival, I couldn't quite work out which figure-of-8 loop will be in Danbury for the pub bit! I'm going to take a direct route there since my legs won't be too happy with hills at the mo!

The last time I followed The Amazing OD and his Educated GPS round a route that tanglesome, we arrived bang on time (or even a bit early) since the GPS cut one loop out of the route ;)

I'm feeling surprisingly chipper today so may come out. Will meet at the pub as I'm on the school run tomorrow so late at work.

Since at least two folks may be meeting at the pub, I suppose we ought to specify one ;)

Hoping (again) to make it this week. I would be heading straight to the pub, I don't trust the commuter steed at the moment so need to have a bike change and I have a Gym session ??? but it should work.
