... I'm sure we'll continue to see road signs for places we've already been through...
How about this proposed route for tonight?

The first thought in my head when I looked at that route was WTF??  The GPS isn't going to know which way to go let alone me!!!  :o

It's certainly going to be interesting from a GPS point of view.  Given each of us programmes and uses their Garmin differently it's going to be fascinating seeing how they cope with a double figure of eight with the route crossing itself three times.

Pissing in the snow again. Does that spell OD with a little flourish underneath?

I don't know what your GPS will do but my Edge 605, on coming to a crossing of ways, will try to route the shortest distance to the end and not follow the "planned" route.  I try not to make my planned routes cross, but where's the fun in that?  ::-)
I was thinking I could pedal over tonight but then remembered I'm doing chauffeur duty tonight.  :( Still I've had a blast out to the Crystal Cafe in Maldon already today so it's all good!
Enjoy the night.

I'll be at the end of the road for 7:30 - impressive route! It was funny seeing the Blue Boar mentioned, I lived there for a month many moons ago.

End of which road?  Are we still talking about opposite the fire station?

We may well have a new chap called Stu with us.  He's another cyclist off the Witham Cycling Facebook group.

So... did any Garmins implode and did you end up on the isle of Sheppey?

Well that was smashing.  33.5 miles and 470 metres of climbing.  And not one GPS had a hissy fit about our double figure of eight route that crossed itself three times.

Stu the new chap from Witham Cycling's Facebook group is a top bloke.  An accomplished MTB racer who turned up on a full carbon road bike and proceeded to show us a clean pair of heels!  Whilst climbing Wickham Bishops hill for the first time Gary, another Witham Cycling chap, also put in a brief appearance to say hello.  He was also on a soot bike!  With slippy's thats three!  The pub was fine and beer was sunk.

At slippy's special request a visit to the Compasses is on the cards next Wednesday.  I can't imagine anyone having a major issue with the concept.

That's good to know - I wondered if you were still orbiting Wickham Bishops

I wonder if Stu realises what he's letting himself in for.

I was a bit surprised that your route for last night didn't take him tantalisingly close to the Compasses without paying a visit as seems traditional for your routes of late ;)

Yes, slippy gave the impression that the near misses had to stop hence the plan for next week.  Huggy rubbed salt in the wound by wearing his Compasses top last night  ;D

This week's Wednesday ride is in fact on Wednesday!  Wednesday is the new Wednesday.

Are the Witham bunch ok to leave from opposite the fire station at 7:30pm?  And who might be there?

I should be there.

There is a small chance I might have to attend an after-work thing that night, but so far it's not planned for Wednesday. (Was originally planned for Tuesday, but has been postponed).

In an unexpected turn of events I now have to go to London tomorrow.  However, this shouldn't preclude me being opposite the fire station at 7:30 as planned.  I may not have had me tea so could be in need of a huffer.  I note from The Compasses' website they stop serving food at 10pm so that should be fine.

Sadly I had forgotten that Mrs B is out with the Waltham Witches some of her friends as it was her birthday on Monday.

Have fun.

I will be out tonight and should be home form That Londonton in time for a 7:30 meeting.  Depending on intended route to Littley Green, I can either be by the J+J or the Fire Station.

Actually, come to mention it, I think I had in mind going to Wickham Bishop via Little Braxted. A few extra miles and vertical metres.

Wanna meet at the fire station?
