Good point Tomsk, I was trying to remember the last time I had to don waterproofs. It was so long ago I couldn't remember a specific instance. I quite enjoyed it, I like riding in the rain and through puddles. Some of our number need to get mudguards and or long rear flaps!

Garmins have a habit of packing up in the rain - mine did in the Alps on probably the last day that a few of us rode in proper wet conditions.  GPS's are clearly not as robust as hardened MEMWNSers.

Made from an old milk container.

Hopefully not recycled from the same one that formed your camping en-suite facilities.
You are in a maze of twisty flat droves, all alike.

One uses white containers for mud flaps and opaque containers for en-suite facilities. Adds the effect.

Oros

Doggers(*)

(*) Doggers has a slightly trickier task as his mudflap needs attaching to his mudguard.  I stitched mine on using whipping twine (a throw back to my sailing and sailmaking days) which was a bit fiddly but has produced a neat finish which has proved very robust even with the bike on the roof of the car hooning along motorways.  When we next meet in daylight I will show you what I have done.  I can even let you have some whipping twine as one reel lasts me years.

Thanks OD, I won't profess to be a dab hand at attaching a mud flap having never acquired sailmaking skills..... I will take a peek at your efforts when I next see you.

Zip ties are effective but aesthetically undesirable  :smug:

Oros
Those guards you have suggested to Oros are similar to the race blades I fitted to my Milano which very effectively direct the road spray in to the face of rider behind, will keep Oros stripe free though   ;)
(mine are just without the extension over the brake bridge)

I rest my case m'lud.  Aesthetically undesirable by the standards of any right thinking cyclist, even those living south of the Crouch (poor souls  ;D  )

Similar but different in one important regard, your Raceblades are too short as I have found to my cost on many an occasion!

That photo takes me back, Ditchling Beacon on our notorious 400.  HERE and HERE if anyone is interested.

looks like the long variety raceblade extends much further down than the originals, judging by the image on this page

I think the Raceblade long version looks excellent and should be universally adopted by all those who don't have bikes sensible enough to accept proper mudguards (with extensions).

Don't forget to add your cravendale mudflap Oros we can both have a lesson from OD in stitching with whipping twine  :)

Oros, I don't think you'll need an extra flap as the long Raceblade looks long enough.  Just like the super sexy 'guards tippers now has are long enough.

Its only recently that mudguard manufacturers have recognised that their products should protect their customer's fellow riders as well as the rider of the bike.  Which is why for many a year cyclists have been coming up with ingenious but sometimes aesthetically undesirable (del  :demon:  ) DIY solutions.
