Troytec HR

Hi Darksiders,
I have located a new Troytec HR for sale. It looks amazing and ticks lots of boxes is there any reason not to buy it other than the slightly disconcerting lack of back-up as the company aren't trading anymore? Would be great to hear from anyone who has one. Thanks in advance!

Nice bikes AFAIK, have Tryotec gone out of business? Website is still active, have you tried contacting them?

Fast bikes though!

A quick look on the German forums found this:
http://www.velomobilforum.de/forum/index.php?threads/troytec-tobias-und-dominik-hoeren-auf-firma-wird-verkauft.41329/
You can put it through Google translate, but it looks like they got good job offers elsewhere back in 2015, but I did not read all the thread !

Yes, I heard they got proper jobs that paid more reliably so decided to stop making the bikes.

That looks like a lovely fast machine. I expect like all such machines it will have been built at the edge of materials tolerance, but that is what you would expect from a hi tech bike like that. Probably best not to take it on a wet winter audax though.

Hah! That's exactly what I want to do! I want a light fast recumbent for long fast rides preferably with minimal chain issues, room for decent width tyres and decent (disc) brakes. It has not been an easy journey.

Ditto here. I find it baffling that for the sake of a few mm of clearance, manufacturers wilfully restrict the usefulness of their designs even in the face of changes in fashion and trends towards fatter tyres in the peloton (which as everyone knows, is the only form of cycling that exists!)

The Troytec and Metabike seem to be exceptions, and now the Schlitter of course, but why things like the Bacchetta CA2 and the M5 CHR are restricted to nominal 25mm without mudguards is beyond me - I cannot believe there's a significant performance difference.
