Good to meet new faces last night. Be warned, I shall be boring all and sundry with tales of the Mersey 24 for a few more weeks yet ::-)!
I'll try and find a free Friday/Saturday  for an overnighter to Red Lodge, maybe in September before the nights get too long and cold. August is a bit busy with hols and summer diy jobs etc. I'll post something in Rides & Touring soon.

Where is this Red Lodge then?

It's a really grim place close to where the A11 and the A14 cross. I've not been to the café (there's a pub of the same name next door and Annie and I saw that first) but the area immediately surrounding the café looks like a badly worn set for a 3rd-rate Western.

Is that the place that has said name written in massive letters on its roof? If it is, I can confirm - it's a shit hole...

As always a lovely time at Littley Green

Good to see everyone and particularly Tomsk who left us all a bit speechless with his recent adventures  :o  Well done on the Mersey 24, very impresive indeed

Due to a track side fire at Romford and the resulting chaos, my plan of an hour-ish loop before hand went out of the window  :(  Still it is the thought that counts  O:-)

Must be boab, then.

Tomsk has promised to take us all on a night ride to Red Lodge for an all-nite (TM) breakfast. At least that's what I remember.

Cool!  A chance to see the kind of night-owls that make Audaxers look normal!

I'm saving myself for Thursday night.  My new liver is being delivered on Friday morning.

As a pubic service I would just like to point out that the Square & Compasses Beer & Jazz Festival starts on Friday evening.  It was most excellent last year ...

...It was indeed. I wonder if Pip will be there again? ;) Does anyone want to head over there on Sunday afternoon? I'm racing in the morning, I need a good result, and so no beer until after. Are you getting bored of that excuse yet? :P

[edit] oh, I suppose I could be around on Wednesday for a MEMWNS, what's the plan?

Ah yes, Pip, I'd forgotten about her.  Given my matchmaking skills I'm disappointed that the last 12 months hasn't seen the two of you end up in wedded bliss.  Next time I'll try much, much harder  ;D

Your feedback on my subtlety skills is very constructive.  Next time I meet up with bobb I will ask for advice, I've always thought bobb is subtlety personified.

Didn't have one yet -- I'm open to suggestions.

Wheatsheaf @ Writtle?
Hurdlemakers @ Woodham Mortimer?
Viper @ Mill Green?
Hoop @ Stock?
Compasses @ Littley Green?
Square and Compasses @ Fuller Street?

Well, I'll pass over the pub option. I thought maybe I'd get out on my fixer, put your through your paces for a bit and then leave you crying into your beer! :demon:

If you wanted to meet at Chelmsford like before - I've got something like a 20 mile loop that goes past the Viper and also the Wheatsheaf.

Bobb, Pip is a girl I went to school with. She's lovely, and I hadn't seen her in something like 18 years.

Ah! I see that post is nearly a year old - but the length of time between seeing the girl in question has gone up by 3 years! A bit like "The fish I caught was *this* long"  :P

Not wishing to dictate the ride, but I could walk to The Wheatsheaf....

No, because I realised that she didn't stay on for the sixth form, and so the last time I saw her was when we were 16, not 18. ;)

And, I could take Oaky on the Cow Watering Lane circuit, coming back into Wtittle.

I think we have a plan! :)  I should be there around 19:00.

All I need now are the legs to follow it through :)
