Blandford Fly bites
« on: 16 September, 2011, 02:42:43 pm »
A small swarm of these buggers attacked me on Wednesday when I was picking blackberries. I was about to go home after picking just over a litre and then suddenly they pounced. The bites are horrible and have developed into blisters. Photos to follow.

Hmm - I wonder if that's what got me the other when I was chasing the potatoes out of bed? The description of blistering sounds right :(.

Warning! Graphic images of damaged flesh! Not for the squeamish!

I was bitten four or five times. These two are the worst.

It was really odd. I had been there for about 45 minutes with no trouble and then within seconds of one another they were on me. They are slow and easy to kill, but I reckon that when you kill them a bit of vicious bitey mouthpart gets stuck in your flesh and suppurates.

Blanford Fly! A spiced beer, biteer with a hint of ginger! Very tasty too!
