Will this greatly affect the cost of sending the wheel?

No one in their right mind would pay £25 postage for a wheel!

MyHermes cost less than a fiver for a front wheel. Can drop off at a local newsagent and it's tracked all the way. Just make sure someone will be able to take the delivery during the day, because I don't think they have the facility to collect from a depot. It's not the fastest service but I've not had problems sending several wheels this way.

Just package up in cardboard and lots of tape. Easy.

Depends on the exact size, weight and value.

If you take it to a post office, its £12 for ParcelForce, covered for up to £100. Add £5 if you need cover up to £500.
Or CollectPlus would be about £5 (covered for up to £50), you can drop it off at a local shop. But that has a max size of 60x50x50cm, you might struggle to fit a wheel within that.
