BN: While fettling my brakes, I decided the outer for the rear brake was too long, so I trimmed a bit off it. And then it was too short.

GN: While rooting around in the box of bits in the garage for something entirely unrelated, I came across a length of unused brake outer cable - more than enough to replace the bit I'd cut too short.

I really should clear out a lot of the crap in the garage but sometimes hoarding pays off.

BN Dr wants me to give up coffee.

GN I had a minor 'episode' while in surgery and lost speech control. Really good that Dr actually was there to witness this rather me feeling like I'm making it up.

BN I'm still going through the motions of 'diagnosis by drug treatment'. Next to try, topiramate.

I'm kind of confused as to why I've never been sent near the hospital neuro department, with its battery of specialist headache nurses.

I don't drink coffee, under doctors' (well, it might have been nurses') orders. It's not that big a hardship,  truly.

Me too.  Coffee, once a big part of my life, went the same way as meat and alcohol into the 'not much missed, actually, all things considered' bin.
Getting there...

Bad news:
My razor - the one I was given by my mother when I first had a use for one, in another world (it was about 1972), & which I've never needed to replace since it has always worked perfectly well, got knocked (not by me!) onto the tiled floor of the bathroom a few days ago, and one of the butterfly bits that hold the blade down was knocked out of place. My first attempt to put it back completely dislodged it.

Good news:
I've fixed it! With a bit of effort & a small screwdriver to pry things apart far enough to push other bits into place, I got it back together & working.

Don't you think it is about time you replaced the blade?

GN 6 days after my beta-blocker dose has been halved and I'm feeling the benefit. Caught up with a red-light jumper and overtook them on a hill - my heart was up to putting in more effort.

BN Right now I'm so dizzy I'll struggle to walk to the bus station without using a stick.

GN the three days of work from hell to meet the end of march deadline will not start today, so I should get out for at least an hour.

BN the remaining clients are far enough behind that the three days of hell will go right to the wire

GN if our new recruit stays another 5 months I'll pick up a nice recruitment bonus as I spotted him

GN: it's a beautiful sunny day, ideal for a bike ride.

BN: I've had a stiff neck for the last fortnight & now my upper back is painful as well. I've booked a physio appointment for next week, but don't think riding my bike is going to improve things.

GN: I'm packed ready for tomorrow.
BN: Tent didn't fit in the panniers. I'm sure I've got a load of stuff I don't really need. I'll probably repack later, after a couple of glasses of wine. That's always a good plan.

BN:  Poorly in the head
GN: Effective drug management to control the poorly
BN:  Ran out of drugz 'cos I had fewer magic pills than I thought
GN: Ordered moar magic drugz online 'cos you can do that
BN: Pharmacy closed early to no access to magic drugz.
BN: Prescription is now sent direct to specific pharmacy.  Which is shut.
BN: This will mean a week without magic drugz.
BN: Increasing head poorliness due to lack of magic drugz
GN: Have now put reminder to order magic drugz on my phone.
BN: Could've done that years ago but was too dumb to think about it.

Oh, well.  Mcshroom dropped off an Easter egg this morning so there's chocolate in the house.

It's always good seeing mcshroom.  Balanced out by the fact that he was supposed to stay over last night but we have some kind of amoebic dysentery/typhoid/norovirus/mild dose of the trots in this house, so I suggested he should not stay over in case he caught it and his audax today was ruined.

BN: He's a very lost soul in his respite home that he's in for the next week.

Didn't Wowbagger discover that you are not obliged to accept vouchers and can demand CA$$$H in some previous tale of woe?

I expect that was a goodwill thing.  I'm not sure I can be arsed arguing the toss, given the value of the vouchers.

Annoyingly, they came with a letter explaining that the new rules mean that vouchers issued after July will be exchangeable for cash at a ticket office.  But not these ones, unfortunately.

Wait till July. Book another journey. Ensure that one is cancelled due to apocalyptic heatwave or something. Exchange new vouchers for cash. Job done!
