Alcohol free to 20/12/2012
« on: 01 October, 2012, 06:45:51 pm »
The lbs have been creeping back on so I've decided to go alcohol free until 20/12/2012... (drinking again on Friday 21st Dec).  Then I can hit Spring 2013 slimmer and fitter without having to make New Year resolutions, and without having to be moderate over Christmas.  If I lose some weight between now and then I can enjoy the festive period guilt free.

Booze is the biggest source of extra belly for me.  And actually, when I'm off the booze I tend to take a bit more care on my diet too.

Would anyone else like to pledge to go alcohol free 'til 20/12/2012 with me?  A bit of mutual support might be helpful for all concerned.

I thought you meant a local bike shop but I never thought they crept!
I'm nearly teetotal anyway and since I now have Diet Pepsi with my bimonthly Wetherspoon's outings rather than cider, I'm probably alcohol-free anyway.

I could pledge to persist 'cos I'm alcohol-free anyway now!

My late night posts from overseas are going to be a lot less embarrassing for a while.  Four, four, ah-ah-ahh.

With lashings of:
ginger beer and...
ginger and cinnamon tea
espresso
slimline tonic
ginger ale
limonata
sparkling water
fresh apple juice
fresh OJ with "bits"
smoothies
... these are what I've found helped in the past.  Any suggestions for a sharp taste sensation?  Something to drink in the pub which you can quaff, doesn't taste rubbish and ideally won't give you a sugar rush.

Having had four alcoholic drinks in 41 years I may find it a challenge...

I'd join too.  But seeing that I've been TT for about 4 years now it would be a bit of an empty gesture.  Maybe I should give up Eccles Cakes instead.

er

No.  Never.

well I've been tee total for the last 2 years, well ok I did have a couple of blips 3 or 4 times, but I have just discovered Bavaria original, same size can as coke,
to me it tastes fantastic and it is really refreshing and the best bit it costs around 2 quid for 6 cans, I don't think I'll ever go back on the booze, not sure on the calories but it might just help you stay on the straight and narrow :)

But with the party season approaching I'm not planning to be either, so I'm not much help to your thread!  I can do silent support though. :)

I had three pints tonight (hey, I'm on holiday!)

But yeah, go on, I'll join you!

Super!  It's a temporary temperance movement.  Banking weight loss ahead of Christmas rather than trying to lose it in Spring - and hopefully making Spring cycling lighter and easier.

Glad you're in.

ie - not continuously offer us drinks...  your support is deeply appreciated.  Or perhaps we'll take a rain-check and accept beers on the 21st December. :)

I'm not totally alcohol-free but very close to it; close enough not to make a resolution!  But I wish you luck, although I'm not completely happy about a plan the secret basis of which is to make you faster......

I can do downhills fast due to the keg of ale under my jersey.  I'm interested in getting up hill faster instead.
