Title: Garmin Mount Stud Thread Size?
Post by: chris on 17 March, 2009, 08:56:29 pm
Does anyone know the thread size for the bolt on the little black stud on the back of a Garmin GPS60 / Etrex?

Being a US company they don't understand metric so it will be a unified thread.

I don't know which one you mean, but if it's the bolt which holds the back cover onto the bike mount on the Legend C, then it's 4-40 UNC. The cover to unit screw is larger - maybe 6-32UNC but I can't check that atm.

If you have a serial data lead or a parallel port lead to hand the jackscrews at the PC end are 4-40 UNC - they fit the thread insert on the back of my Garmin Geko

The screw in the back of my GPS60 is 2.8mm across the threads, and a visibly coarser pitch than M3, which is right for UNC 4-40.

Thanks for the help. The bolt from an old serial lead is sopon for what I have in mind.
