6 Mar. Local 200 (DIY 200 from Redhill, based on William the Conkerer 200 test ride)
20 Mar. Local 300 (the 300 not done above)

Any interest?  PM me.

Great Eastern Perm (1000km)

1-4 June 2010.  Start Red Lodge (Mildenhall, Kennet Station is nearest) lunchtime Tues 1/6
Rough schedule:

Day 1 to South Mimms Services and back  to Red Lodge (226km), sleep stop
Day 2 Red Lodge to Knaresborough (nr Harrogate) (318km), sleep stop
Day 3 Kn to Scotch corner then back to Lincoln or further South (288+km), sleep stop
Day 4 back to Red Lodge
It needs to be done in 75 hours.
My preferred method is to plod along rather slower and stop less often ...

Any suggestions for places to sleep stop welcome.

A rather late start to 2010 for me. I'll be bimbling round routes easily accessible from West London.

10April - a 120km round the Thames Valley starting Chiswick or Datchet depending on how I feel - done with Swiss Hat & Friend
17April - Dave Hudsons Pulborough Connection 200km perm (with brevet) starting from Guildford - Aborted - 'Borked Back'
24April - The Faccombe Willy, a 200km DIY awaiting permification starting from Chalfont St Peter.  It's like the Willy Wamer only a bit harder more scenic. (I'll be helping Chris Beynon man the 7Across Arrivee after). Done with Mattc an Scotlington.

08May - Taste of the Test (Well, its a Calendar but I'll be there).

Also on the agenda (date tbc):

The much acclaimed 'Chicken Run', a London-Brighton-London 200km DIY also awaiting permification, with a lunch control at the Old Post Office in Wiston. This starts in Chiswick for some curious reason.

The sadly de-listed 'Muswells Hills' as a DIY 200km from Finsbury, North London.

I may well be up for joining you on this Mr Tea. I am supposed to be doing the 7Across but have yet to enter and am also experiencing a rather late season start. A 400k at this stage may just be a little too much....

Sounds epic! If I'm not working I MIGHT be tempted, but 1x1000k/year will probably suffice. Do you have a route/controls outline link?

I'm planning to do the fabulous Port Navigation 200 on Sunday 2 May with a start in Ballachulish aiming for the 9.50 ferry from Oban, an unhurried ride round Mull for a later ferry at Fishnish and amble back to Ballachulish. An absence of west coast gales will be a requirement for the ride to take place. Company welcome.

I'm thinking of doing The Old 240 perm in June, any interest in joining me ? May create a DIY from Leeds based on the same major climbs, IF we can use Danials AAA/GPS to get the AAA points.

I'm looking to do "The Anorak's Delight" (Tadley - Odiham - New Alresford - Romsey - Amesbury - Tadley) on the late May bank holiday weekend if anyone is interested.  Likely to meet Mrs D for lunch somewhere (Mottisfont perhaps if the ride goes near there - I haven't checked).

Not particularly concerned which day I ride.

Finally spotted this.
Red Lodge - Bishops Stortford - South Mimms - Bish St - Red Lodge - Deeping St J - Lincoln - Thorne - Knaresborough - Scotch Corner - Stamford Bridge - Thorne - Lincoln - Deeping St J - Red Lodge.
2 x 500 starting midday Tues with longish zz stop on the Thorne - Knaresborough leg.
My nauseatingly detailed route sheet will soon be ready, I'll be stunned if you don't save yourself for the MC1000, but company welcome.

Goodness me. I never thought I'd hear myself say this... but that's way too much flat for my liking. Ohh... my arse...  :(

One has to get out of the saddle once in a while - to air one's views...

Isn't that (essentially) the section of LEL that everyone cannot wait to be past northbound, and dreads again southbound?

Good Luck!

Well, I'm running 100/200k events on the 6th, so it is rather tempting just to be able to drop it into conversation: You think 100k was a long way? ... (childish, I know)

You forget, Chris, I like flatness.  Unlike hills I seem to be able to keep up - hill climbing skills are lacking on my part.  Not that it'll make much difference as it doesn't look like anyone else wants to do a perm 1000 that's too long/flat/short.

I think you may mean Bernie's Long Flat one though (but I'd imagine there's a certain similarity to it).

I'm coming to the conclusion that my show off cloth badge (the 1000 km one) looks too much like it says 100km for ayone to be excited appalled by it.

Martin and I bimbled round today, the hottest day of the year so far, both of us working our way back to fitness. Blue skies are great but I felt the heat in the afternoon. Still, I perked up once the day cooled. I rode down to Guildford so a 250km day for me on my 71" Summer gear. Excellent!

w/e of 19 June.  Brevet Cymru 400 perm anyone?

I bailed at 350km in the calendar event, citing sense of humour failure and general wishywashyness in the face of torrential rain.  This is my chance to redeem myself on a straightforward 400k.

Severn View services start.  Probably around 7am.  Leisurely pace.

Well, a combination of events not least of which included 25,000 other riders meant it didnt happen*, but will sometime over the next few weeks. Company still welcome.

*Edit: Paid a penance with a 100km jolly down to the Surrey Hills in the afternoon.
