Kernow & SW 2011
« on: 11 February, 2011, 09:22:03 pm »
Thought that I had better start a thread on this. I will ride this for the first time this year as my PBP qualifier. I planned to ride last year but was ill for most of May.

I need to plan sleeping the night before. Anyone fancy sharing the Exeter Travel Lodge?

The start list is growing steadily, so there are bound to be people to share with.

...and thanks for starting the thread.

am undecided between this and The Beast.... K&SW is a more enjoyable route but the Beast is closer to home
Why should anybody steal a watch when they can steal a bicycle?

I'm looking for accommodation on the Friday and Sunday nights, happy to share to cut costs, anyone else still looking?

Cheap train tickets available for some of the trains (the Paddington ones anyway).

Still waiting for the cheap South West Trains tickets so I can go straight from work (near Waterloo). These trains take longer but I'd only spend that extra time getting over to Paddington for the faster trains. Also means I can also get a ticket back to my local station without having to go into London.

FGW trains through Reading, with cycle reservations, are available now. I just booked one using
Cheapest Train Tickets for the East Coast > East Coast
as a test (but didn't buy it of course...).

I now have a share for the Travelodge on the Friday night as well.

Train home booked for about 8:30pm. Should be back by then ( ???

SWT advance fares available for the trains from London Waterloo.

Waterloo to Exeter Central (since it stops there) for a whole whopping £13. ;)

Return tickets on this route not available yet but I'll be dropping by to see parents near Crewkerne on the way back.

[EDIT] Return tickets available. £11 advance for Crewkerne to Clapham Junction. No advance fares for Exeter to Crewkerne so it's a choice of a £12.90 walk up fare or a 60km ride in the morning. In for a penny...

Very acheivable in good weather and if you are a fast(ish) rider.

I seemed doomed to never ride this event again as it falls on weekends that clash with family and domestic related events.

It always clashes with one important event but I've managed to blag it this year.

You're unsure? PM me your name and I'll confirm.

The buzzard seems to have been quiet of late. Or dead.

I'm worried that if I manage to do the BCM and the Clywd Offa, I might need this one to get my DNS SR.

Sorry old chap, the entry system can't cope with names more than 12 letters long.
