Or C:  take the short route to lunch (10kms) from Long Itch.

That may be our plan, although if you are lounging around the campsite, I think N will want to as well!

I have a job interview morning of the 5th so may well be too fried for lots of riding.

I have plotted 3 days' riding at about 50 miles per day, the first two ending at C & CC sites (Hertford & M. Keynes). At the moment the forecast is looking pretty decent for late next week. I might not have any excuses not to ride it...

Provisional ride route for Saturday,

There is a tea and loo stop opportunity just before Fenny Compton and lunch is at The Pavilion in Lighthorne.  I'm expecting us to arrive for lunch between 13:00 and 14:00 pending pace of the group.

and, the short hop down from Long Itch for anybody not wanting to do a longer ride but wishing to join us for lunch.

My bad: the short hop is 14kms not 10.  Sorry.    :-[

It would be very helpful if folk could let me know if they are riding and/or lunching please, especially the later so that I can let Lighthorne Pavilion know approximate numbers.    Thanks.

Field etiquette update:

Because we haven't filled the field* we will need to leave a bit of room and cross field access for the odd campervan.   I am aware that The Melbournes and Torslanda like to pitch up along he far edge but the rest of us will be over in the 'tree' half of the field and along the low wall where Cyclemand and Apollo pitch.

Cycleman:  If you could kindly pitch close to the end where Tors normally lands leaving him room for his stupidly large tent and gazibo we should be able to get Tors and The Melbourne's in without upsetting others.

Pending arrival of Tors and the Melbournes, I might well set up a bench or two in that area so that we can congregate as a crowd on Friday evening.

* I am very surprised that more people have not wanted to come and see Kajsa.

If I didn't know better I might think that PB has 'tent envy'.  ;D

In case of inclement weather I am attempting a dining shelter. Watch this space . ..

A word of warning - from experience the service at the Lighthorne place is sloooooooow so it might be worth trying to get a menu and pre-order.

I see the route goes through Wellesbourne, if anyone is in need of a bike shop there is one in the village, in Bridge St just off the small gyratory system next to the Methodist church.  Open 0900 to 1730 on Saturdays.

It's just possible I might tootle over to Lighthorne for lunch if the weather is clement ... taking the risk on the food service!

Hmm, not our experience to date Rob but thanks for the warning.  It would be good to see you.   I don't suppose we can tempt you and your friends to Kajsa's talk in the evening?

Given that we'll be nearing the end of the ride and that we can cut out the Wellesbourne extension if time is a factor I don't think that it will be too much of a consequence.

A timely reminder perhaps for folk to put some layers in their bags to keep warm if necessary at the stop.

Yes. The amount of kit that needs lugging I want it set up in timely fashion . . .

Talking of lugging vast amounts of kit ... I have started to prepare my stuff for a getaway on Wednesday, hopefully before 10am. Planning on stopping at C&CC sites near Hertford and Milton Keynes. Forecast is OK.

I am working tomorrow during the day and have a choir practice in the evening, hence the preparations now.

Dears
Due to 'generally-a-lot-of-stuff-going-on' (including relocating life to Deal, I have paid scant regard to these activities of late.  Next weekend is already planned, but I'd like to wish you all a fabbest weekend.  I'll keep alert for the next one.
In other news, I have bought a small caravan..... :o

I'm not about on the Thursday evening or I'd show you the local pubs.
There's one by the lake across the road in front of the site.
One near the late opening shops (Sainsbury/Chinese/chippy/Indian) at Willen https://goo.gl/maps/sKDKiKpgKWN2
or one at Woolstone https://goo.gl/maps/wwE4TffXqRA2
May be able to lead you through MK on Friday morning though. What time are you looking at leaving the site?
This would be the route I'd take to Long Itch https://ridewithgps.com/routes/20791366

Thanks, Rich. I would guess by 10am.

I shall decide tomorrow whether to ride up or not. The forecast has taken a turn for the crappy - a fair bit of rain in Essex tomorrow and also quite a gusty NE wind. I suspect that the rain is quite likely to be at variance with the forecast (it's been chopping and changing all evening) but having a nagging crosswind will not be that great.

Genuine, not going into it in public, personal problems mean I can't do this one. I was looking forward to it too.
Enjoy.

BUM! That's not good news. Whatever it is I hope you get it sorted soon.

Any road. You'd better be at Silverdale in September or I'll come and fetch you!  ;D

OK - back to Plan A! I get the train on Friday. It's bloody 'orrible out there. If I am going to have a couple of days cycling on my own I'm going to pick ones with decent weather! (And, tbh, somewhere a bit more inspiring that London satellite towns like Hertford, St. Albans & Milton Keynes!  :P)
