As I recall, Canuckistan also has a Port Radium and a Uranium City.  I look forward to these becoming Paradis-sur-le-Lac and Sunnymeadows respectively.

Yes.  All is not well in Canada at the moment.   Their army has made a slight wolf paux in Nova Scotia https://www.nytimes.com/2020/10/16/world/americas/nova-scotia-wolves-military.html

In the same part of the world there is a nasty & escalating dispute over lobster fishing rights.  I don't think anyone's been killed yet.  :(

It was given the English name for the mineral - rather than the French amiante - in the late 19th Century.
L'amiante, mon amante. It always sounds better in French.

Man overdoes it with the halloween decorations

Early-career Peter Jackson is his spirit animal (Think "Bad Taste" or "Braindead"). ;)

A new Dutch art installation.  (fortunately no one hurt , driver taken to hospital for a checkup).

My first response was [cetacean needed]...

After a bit of thought, my fuller response was:

For a metro train to get into this situation, multiple systemic failures have to have happened. The safety systems should not let a train go off the end of a line like this. The fact that after all these systemic breakdowns and failures, the driver is saved by art... hello 2020.

Boris Johnson has been inspired by this event to install a maritime sculpture off the White Cliffs of Dover to stop the country going off the rails. The best suggestion so far is a small jellyfish.

Can't be, we all know that fibres just shatter and only steel is real enough to stand up to this kind of shock.

I think the fact that the first car remained coupled to the second one is restraining it, rather than being totally supported by the whale.

While the post-Soviet interpretation of a hostile business takeover is rather more literal than what we're used to, the report reads more like it was a robbery gone wrong.

Jellyfish: A new sustainable, nutritious, and ‘oyster-like’ food for the Western world?
30-Jul-2019 By Flora Southey

Jellyfish are nutrient-rich, boast a similar taste and texture profile to oysters, and if approved as a novel food, could help ease the burden of over-exploited fisheries, according to EU-backed research.
