I think the fact that the first car remained coupled to the second one is restraining it, rather than being totally supported by the whale.
Simple mechanics show that the plastic is holding the weight of [looks at image] approx 1 and a third carriages.
Think of the tension currently going through that coupling though!

I used plastic deliberately; I didn't intend to suggest that was the sole material (unlike the artist/BBC).
But the BBC probably [definitely] don't have engineers in plaice to question what they have been told. Perhaps I should have put it in inverted commas.

I always think German sausage jokes are the wurst

Where as Dutch sausage jokes are the actual worst, but unfortunately so few people appreciate this, it's usually lost :(

There were a lot of 'reviews' added to the landscaping company's Google page yesterday but they seem to have disappeared now   :(

Disappointed that they didn’t caption the photo “A BEAR, yesterday”.

I'll bet there is a queue of Italian coppers volunteering to drive that.

Presumably all the Italian helicopters were unavailable due to use of a non-standard thread on the Jesus nut or something.

Last time I was cycling in Italy we were overtaken by a string of vintage cars with police cars top & tail and a police Lambo up front.  Can't be much fun sitting in one of those things and being limited to 50 kph - like crowd-watching duty at a cup final.
