Dipped my toe into organising. A 300km and 100km on the Saturday and a 200km on the Sunday (probably the first ever organised Sunday event in the Western Isles). Time to think about doing some more. Maybe an event in Dumfries and Galloway next year ;)

Really? Golly. I'm surprised. Why is that?
Besides, it wouldn't be audacious if success were guaranteed.

I'll bet they are still talking about it!
It is simpler than it looks.

It's always good to see people doing these events on random hybrids and shoppers, in trainers and so on.
Riding a concrete path through the nebulous and chaotic future.

The 2019 300 was a glorious day out. Shame the ferry strikes spoiled that one.

And you have a Dumfries-appropriate stamp, would be a pity not to give it an airing ;D

Moffat to Gatehouse of Fleet looks good. I have the next section planned (in reverse) for a 200 I'm planning to organise. Friends have ridden it and said  it works.

Do whichever is easier to organise, but if I'm around I'd be more tempted by the one heading west rather than into the borders since there are a few rides already around there.

When I questioned riders in Borders events the general feedback was "go west" into new roads. Reviving Tom Hanley's "Oot to Straiton" is another option

Probably agree, although the second one goes past my parents house so if you want a control.... :D
I'm up for helping if (hopefully when ) it comes to fruition.
Think it possible that you may be mistaken.

Ian as discussed over pasta that route includes @110K the 'Portpatrick railway chicanery-incline' for larfs - 'twas a new one to me  - at one point I had all three wheels locked despite the high friction calcined bauxite surface*..And yes, alternative route : A75 anyone?

But that's a small part of what looks like an excellent route

* I had to look it up
