Hmmm I don't think my Yuba Mundo or small wheeled road bike can cope with snow. What sort of mountain bike would be best served for commuting in snowy weather? (looking for vague reasons to justify buying an MTB ;D).

Would full suspension or a hardtail be better at coping with hidden obstacles in snow...

Singlespeed, 29er, steel frame, rigid forks.

If it keeps up with the snow, this is what I shall use to get to work tomorrow:

Get thee to eBay and pick up a classic nineties hardtail.  Because you're worth it  :D

Yep

Pompino with cross tyres would be ideal.

I have a Pompino.  And some X tyres.  I really ought to combine them :)

The cold winter was my justification for this.
Unfortunately, the ground clearance might not be too helpful in heavy snow, but, given that you're in Londinium, you shouldn't have that much...
Maybe the weather could provoke n+2....
