705 Out Front Mount?
« on: 07 February, 2013, 11:36:21 am »
I've noticed a few "Out front" handlebar mounts for the 500/800 garmin series, but my trusty 705 is going strong and I don't see a compelling reason to upgrade. However reclaiming the room on my stem would be great and make getting at route sheets, etc. easier.

Anyone know of a good 705 out front mount? I suppose I could kludge one for the newer models, but custom made would be nice. You know the sort of thing I mean:

Scroll half way down - will probably take a couple of months before they land...

I read that page when it was published, followed the link...and didn't notice the 705 adaptor on it  But looks like a great idea well implemented. Just broken another 705 mount, though I don't think I'll be buying four of the new style and an adaptor just yet!

At £30, I figured I could live with occasionally wielding an alan key as it'll be a big help in the audax riding handlebar clutter scheme of things!

The race ware adapter looks interesting, but I note it is sold out. I got one of the k-edge mounts but I couldn't find in the the uk, I'm having to get it sent from the us.

In the meantime my old joule head unit has died and as the 500 was going for £129.99 on amazon a few weeks back I got one of those, I like a map and other info when I ride :-)  Guess I'll put the 500 out front and move the 705 to the bar. Not ideal, but it will work and let me get at the route sheet easier.

Now all I have to do is figure out a way to power two Garmins on rides over 150k :-)
