City Navigator Europe into Base Camp
« on: 08 May, 2013, 09:56:17 pm »
I have City Navigator Europe on an SD card in my Etrex30, but would like to be able to see the mapping in BaseCamp when the Etrex is not connected to the computer.

Is there any way the mapping can be made available in BaseCamp in this way?

If not I'll just have to download a lot of OSM tiles although I've heard rural France is not completely covered in detail by OSM.

I think you can copy it onto a USB stick, then BaseCamp should read it from there. So it will work so long as you have the USB stick plugged in.

This worked for me on a Mac, it loads into Basecamp much quicker too, if you're on a windows machine there's probably an equivalent process.

Thanks for the suggestions.

USB stick worked for me.  Takes quite some time to load, but better than plugging in the Etrex.

I tried creating folders on the HD with the map data therein, but couldn't get BaseCamp to recognise them as a map file, no matter where I located them.  And I'm not clever enough to understand how to map a folder so that it appears to be another PC disk like the Mac users on the CTC forum linked  :)
