That's 18hrs for approx. 450km on the first day ?    = 25kph overall average including stops?  :o
And I think it was more like 425 km, but I cannot remember.

Cheers... yes I was trying to make it fit with the current route distances.......
I quite like the 500-400-300-200 split but with a later start that means riding through the first night, I guess the earlier start makes that less necessary.

Looks like you had shorter sleep stops 1st & 3rd night with a good rest on the 2nd night.

Dunno if this will help anyone, but I did LEL 2013 in just under 90 hrs. Here's how each day ended up working out:

Day 1: 06:45 start. Cycled to Scotch Corner Travelodge. Arrived around 00:30.
Day 2: Shortest day of the event. Left Scotch Corner around 06:30. Cycled to Edinburgh & stayed at the Dalkeith Premier Inn. Arrived around 20:30.
Day 3: Left Edinburgh around 05:00 and cycled ~350 km to Polkington, arriving around 23:30
Day 4: Left Pocklington around 04:45. Back to HQ just after midnight.

Very helpful info, thanks! I was starting to panic about the 100H selection last night, but now it's decided, this actually makes a "A+ plan" seem a bit more within our comfort zone.

Summary of Adam's ride:

Day1: 06:45 start | 450km in 18H45 = 24km/h | 06H00 rest
Day2: 06:30 start | 250km in 14H00 = 18km/h | 08H30 rest
Day3: 05:00 start | 350km in 18H30 = 19km/h | 05H15 rest
Day4: 04:45 start | 350km in 19H30 = 18km/h | 10H00 in hand; Fin

Day5: After his midnight finish he had a sleep in his tent and then spent most of Thursday volunteering at the finish control.

I averaged 22.9kph rolling average in 2013.

That's about 61h on the bike, and about 51h off it.

As usual, it's time off the bike where the gains are to be had.

You were about the same speed or perhaps faster than me. I couldn't have had much more than 12 hours off the bike  and completed in 78. Gone for 12:45 this time cos I don't want to get up early. An all night party is great but getting up early is a killer.

Well the 100hr start time is in.... all looks fine on paper  ;D

Went out for 100miles yesterday, got into all day riding mode after lunch (and finally a tailwind too) and mooched on to 115... =185km temptingly close to 200 to be honest. That was just under 8.5hrs overall (I hate that strava defaults to moving time / moving pace) with a few minutes stopped to buy water, a wee stop and a slightly decadent 45minute lunch.

(PS since LEL strava groups is now the thing apparently....  how about a 100hr starters group?)
