Can't have Mull of Kintyre without the pipes...

Well that's easily solved then isn't it.

I always thought the problem with that song was the Bag's pipes rather than the bagpipes? Or was that just a bitter sound engineer's comment?

Frog Chorus would probably be improved by bagpipes - in that it would give you an extra incentive to turn it off.

You're a bunch of Philistines. Bagpipes are ace.

Didn't a Boomtown Rats track have bagpipes on it?

Oh, what? Onto the third page and still no mention of Davy Spillane?

How about this one:

Good as Mary Coughlan is, the pipes at the end steal it completely.

I have a set of his albums. I could mention Vicky Swann, Matt Seattle, many, many others.

I quite like the pipes in Belle and Sebastian's "Sleep the clock around" as it builds towards the end

I love that song and have listened to it countless times but I've never noticed the pipes at the end. I think if I'd given it a moment's thought, I would have assumed that sound was probably a Melodica, or maybe a synth, but now you mention it, it's obviously pipes.

You've ruined it for me! :(

Doesn't Fairytale Of New York have bagpipes?

I'm surprised you haven't mentioned bagpiping yet.

I like pipes and drums. Today I was treated to a slightly surreal but excellent performance of Pachelbel's Canon (a more conventional version is here http://www.youtube.com/v/6wpPk8qk3uQ&rel=1) by the Pipes and Drums of the 6th/8th Boys' Brigade (the current Scottish champions). Slightly surreal in that it was being played in Lochee High Street.

I'll have to chat to their Drum Major (why are all Dundee Pipers called Dave?) who is a local CTC stalwart and see if I can get a recording. They have also played Thriller in the past as a competition piece.

Menawhile, I'll return to my Peatbog Faeries and Red Hot Chilli Pipers CD's

One of my favourite films, and I think the answer is yes, you may disagree, but here it is

Which inevitably leads to this, the only great rock song that has bagpipes in it:
