Always buy insurance, on the rare cases it does actually pay off.

I did but it won't cover liquidation :(

I am however covered as I have a Visa Debit Card.

phew.  To avoid delaying it, would the insurance also cover the increased cost of a working airline for the same dates?  If you phoned them up and said you had to be there for a wedding, for example....

Thanks for that.  I will check my policy

Well, today I've been to London.  I visited West Ealing and met three truly lovely people, Charlotte, Liz and Phil.   I also met Montezuma, and, a graceful two-wheeled lady called Margaret Hilda.

Margaret Hilda has moved to a not-so-peaceful retirement in the Midlands.

I have promised (gulp) to organise a tandem ride - visitation rights were requested, and I might even come down to CM in September.

Many thanks Charlotte - I really appreciate it.   I am sure MH will be happy with her new two-wheeled friends as well as her two-legged riders.

Now, I have some fettling to do ...  ;D  8)    8)  ;D

p.s. I wanted to come to CM but prior commitments got in the way.  Sorry Londoners.  :(

Wranglings with HMRC finally sorted out. Overpaid income tax refunded. No more self assessments (I'd owe them money if I submitted one this year).

Woolly has sorted my bikes, along with our wonderful mechanic friend, Cory (of Mendabike, Parsons Green, fame).

Seth the Surly Steamroller has stunning new bartape and saddle.
Eva the Enigma is almost there, with a new stem, bars, and delightful flowery-but-not-too-girly grey bartape!
Felix the Focus is about to get a chain makeover.

The end is in sight of my holiday.
While I recognise that most sane human beings would not consider that as good news, I'm getting withdrawal symptoms from workTM and am starting to want to be back on my own again (i.e. back to "situation normal"), rather than sharing a house with admittedly-splendid friends.
The really good thing about the end-of-holiday is that I return to my fleet of n-1.  (minus one because I managed to smuggle the Brompton to Cornwall with me).  Even better news is that n+1 may well apply soon, as I'm about to convince myself that I need a machine specifically for Audax.  But it'll have to be a triple.  D'ya think Mercian will oblige?

Son no. 2 is settling in upstairs, between uni residences.

Our house is groaning under boxes full of paperwork relating to bloody political campaigns from yesteryear and current rubbish associated with Dez being local organiser for FoE.

In this environment Graham is expecting to put the finishing touches to his Masters dissertation and make a start on his PhD. In ten days' time his girlfriend will be moving in too, for a week.

Why am I posting this under "Good News"? It could be a fraught period.
