south downs way - info & advice
« on: 30 August, 2013, 01:54:31 pm »
My wife has been offered the chance of  going to a school in Uganda to train staff there to best help the pupils who have experienced some rather horrible things - she's a child psychotherapist -

so she's  we've decided that  I'm going to help her raise some money for her air fare by cycling the south downs way and will get lots of friends & family to sponsor me a little bit each.

plan is to do it over 3 days (maybe 2? to add some pressure and increase sponsorship potential given how slow a rider I am).
I have in laws  near Winchester, (for the start) family half way along, to stay with, and a friend willing to transport bikes & knackered cyclists at the far end.

Having grown up in Horsham I'm vaguely familiar with the SDW from boy scout overnight hikes etc, but anyone got anything useful to tell me?
will probably be in the next month or so....

I'll be on a rigid 1980's mountain bike  (with moustache bars & SQR Carradice) ;D
