« on: 28 February, 2023, 09:39:17 pm »

The #ruska2023quiz has begun.

Within the next day or two we should have the route for this year's ruska.

Anyone else interested?

The route is:

Start Liepaja
CP 1 Tartu
CP 2 Vaasa
CP 3 Tornio
Finish Kilpisjärvi

Exact CPs and parkour will be revealed in due course.

Throwing these into komoot gives a little under 2100km. And 7400m of climbing.

Pretty flat.

Interesting, but too close (in time...) to PBP for me to consider.

Also, I wonder if you're allowed to take the ferry from Tallin to Helsinki or have the cycle around the Gulf of Finland? Personally I would prefer to stay out of Russia atm.

Ferry is allowed. As is the option of a ferry from Vaasa to Umea. This route replaces one which went into Russia due to the current political situation.

The event happens each year in September.

I wonder if you're allowed to use this ferry (which I did in 2014). Seen here at Tallinn see below

or do you have to use the much slower car ferry (as I did in 2016).

Edit: Linda Lines went bankrupt in 2018, so it's the car ferry.
