[HAMR] HAM'R time (11 April)
« on: 02 March, 2015, 06:52:49 pm »
http://ultracycling.com/sections/records/data/hamr/group.html

Any plans anybody?

AUK calendar for reference:

http://www.aukweb.net/events/?From=11%2F04%2F2015&To=1&Days=&Category=&Dist_min=&Dist_max=&Aaa=&Region=

I'll probably do a 300 of some sort.  Possibly eeked out to try and match Kurt and Steve's typical distance at the time (provided they don't go bananas and start banging out 400km+)

Nice idea . Apart from being Strava-centric.

This is nearly as bad an idea as moving AUK to Facebook  :o

Shame -  in principle a "HAMR day" is a great idea.

Is the C for Curmudgeon  :-*

(I suppose that yACF or AUK could run one for the benefit of Steve, and to show him solidarity, later this year.  Perhaps as he approaches 75000 miles.  365 people riding 205 miles should bring home the enormity of the task.  Actually, finding 365 people to ride 205 miles will be nigh on impossible!)

Let's have a YACF day on the same day and take 'em down!

*Not going to happen

Oops, I edited my post before reading your comment Geraldc.

Build it and they will come etc etc.  True in the movies.  Less so in real life.

How did you guess?!?

But seriously - find someone without a Garmin. Then see what reaction this gets.

Right idea - wrong platform.

HK and I will be riding the Green and Yellow Fields 300 with Steve that day. I don't think I'll want to ride the whole day with him. I'll be happy enough just comfortably finishing the 300 on my fixed.

I'll be routechecking my 400 on that day, starting out on saturday evening.

Damn you Hillbilly, I'm down to ride the G&Y Fields then, and now you've made me realise it's exactly 101km from the arrivée back to home. Do I really want to ECE this?

ISTR a certain Teethgrinder otp saying he "preferred" a 700 km ECE to a 600 because of the more relaxed average speed ;D

I finished my ECE of the BCM to 740km last year with at least 6h in hand having finished the ride itself with probably 1-1.5h in hand.

I can't see how the outfit will work on a bike.

So... anyone get anything special planned for international HAM'R day?

Since I have no Audax ride planned that day, as a homage to Steve I thought I'd go and pay the Gibbon a vist  :)  Maybe more than once  ;)

I believe a few riders on the Green and Yellow Fields will be adding a few miles to their 305km for HAM'R day. Having done 100+km in the dark from the midnight start, most should be able to tack this extra bit on in daylight.

I believe I'm riding Yr Elenydd on that very day. I really don't want to add any extra miles.

I've entered the Heart of England and am planning on adding the 15 miles or so needed to hit Tommy Godwin's daily average.

I will not, however, be doing the same for the following 364 days.

find someone without a Garmin.

Might be difficult, you never know how far off course they'll be   ;D

I'm not that clear on how this is supposed to work - I've joined the UMCA HAM'R club on Strava, do I just then upload my rides for the day at the end in the normal way?

The only additional thing I did was flag that I'm in, at:

https://www.strava.com/clubs/117991/group_events/30314

I've no idea whether this is required or simply helps you to declare an entry to the world and its dog (I suspect it isn't needed, and that it simply hoovers up all the rides from those subscribed to the UMCA club, regardless of whether they've flagged intent.)

<Edit: I've asked a question on the discussion attached to the event on Strava>
