Title: 365 Project
Post by: Chris S on 21 January, 2011, 07:55:12 pm
This looks quite interesting:

Take a Photo a Day · 365 Project (http://365project.org/)

Featured on Look East this evening (because the site developer lives in Ipswich). Amidst some dross, there are some fantastic pictures on there.

Basically - document your life with a photo a day.

Doesn't Ham of this parish do this?

I had a look once so this might be out of date.

Having aquired a very nice new SLR just before Christmas, I seriously considered doing this.  But the sense of disappointment I'd feel in myself from the inevitable missed day means I've just decided to take as many photos as I can every week, just because.

What I've learned from looking at all the amazing photos people have posted on Flickr is that you don't need a reason to make an image, just as long as it pleases you.  It's like any other kind of art - you've got to practice, innit?

I'm in my 3rd year now. I've missed a few days and it's getting difficult to think of things to photograph, especially when I've had a busy day. Even so it's worth doing- a year of "mundane" photographs is still quite satisfying to look at as a whole, and it means you appreciate your good photos a lot more.

If you've shot an event you have to consider which is your best or most meaningful photo to add to your 365 set, and instead of several thousand photos you'll never look at again you've got a manageable set you can go back to.

Blipfoto (http://www.blipfoto.com) does a similar thing. Missing a day can be annoying, but it's actually quite satisfying to do (been on Blipfoto for almost three years now - Horns of Wilmington's Cow (http://www.blipfoto.com/anth)).
