Bad news: Little Cudzo is ill. Not terribly ill, but it's his first day off school since he started there. And it's swimming today, his favourite part of the whole school week!
Second bad news: This means I'm stuck at home and we'll probably run out of food!

Good news: This explains why he was so upsettable and weepy at school yesterday.

Bad news: There's been a horrible acrid smell of popped electronic components in the room all week.

Good news: Just found out it's the scent of the flowers on the sideboard!

Good news:  Crusty is building up my old Viking into a singlespeed/fixed, with a view to taking it to India, using bits obtained mostly from MSeries OTP, so it has added Cool.

Bad news:  there's a chance it might have to stay in India when he comes back.

It would be a shame to have to leave it there. If the problem is the bag or box he'll be using on the flight out, it might be possible to leave that either in some left luggage facility quite cheaply or find a friendly bike shop in Delhi, make contact with them now and ask if they'll store it for a week or two, however long he's going to be out there.

But if he does have to leave it there, I advise also the friendly bike shop, or some club. A bike like that should go to someone who will appreciate it.

Hmm, I suspect that bike has value, but only to me.  I must get Crusty to take some photos  :)

That's all the more reason to bring it back to the person who values it. But if you don't want it, I might be able to relieve you of it.  :)

Bad News: I left my phone at home this morning :(

Worse news: It's Our Kid's 21st birthday, so I couldn't ring him or text him congratulations :'(

Also bad news: The phone wasn't left at home; I'd proper lost it >:(

Good news: TGL came home from school with a name and phone number of the person who had found my phone and done some detective work. :)

Gooder news: I've just been to pick it up :D  In exchance for a bottle of booze.

Gooderer news: That added to my commute makes today another unnecessarily 50km day

Good:  The meeting I had schedule for Friday is now a teleconference, so I don't need to be suited and booted!

Bad: One of my managers is out of the office tomorrow and I've been asked to cover for him at a contract negotiation, so the person who has been shadowing me at the meetings ref'd on 'Good' above will cover my teleconference - and I'll have to be suited and booted for the contract meeting.

I suspect I may find myself in full business clobber on Fridays quite a few times this year.  :-\

Bad news: I am at an extremely tedious meeting to discuss mental health service redesign (not to invite our input, but to tell us what we have to shut up and endure), and the current presentation is highly clinical.

Good news: I got to ride my bike here.

Good news : I've found a guitar shop that is very convenient & economic for kit & lessons.I can leave my guitar there at the end of Lesson 1 & subsequently ride there&back on my bike.

Good news: I may well be going to India in March (at work's expense)
Bad news: It looks like I've got a metric fuckton of vaccinations to get done first

I'm pretty used to having blood taken now, but vaccinations still give me the heebie-jeebies ...

Re Interzen:
Good news: Wasn't that many injections when I went. I come over faint with injections as often as not. Nurses seem to prefer me saying in advance and being on the bed already and coming prepared with a mars bar.
Bad news: In the end the gut-rot from the anti-malarials was worse than the injections.

But, lucky you!

Good: Coming this week is our latest mobile sound system. It's a wide departure from the universally loved Beatrix but here's some stats to salivate over. 110ah Ultra Deep Discharge power supply, SMPS power amp, 8" carbon fiber drivers, titanium compression drivers, built in 230v charging. It should be pushing on for 130db with a runtime longer than Paula Radcliffe.

Bad: I have a week to design and build it. And it'll have a big advertising space.
