Good News: My cracked Dawes Vantage frame is going to be replaced under warranty (as this is being done through the LBS I bought the bike from I haven't even needed to find the paperwork) :)

Bad news: It'll take 8 weeks to find a suitable frame for me as they don't have any the same size of the same model available (despite still selling the exact same bike ???)

Good News: they are going to give me a nice chromoly steel Dawes Horizon frame to replace the aluminium Vantage frame :D

Good news: views from campsite stunning.

Bad news: had to strike tent wet this morning so there are puddles inside and the midges are paying too much attention outside.

Bad news: I had a meeting with some reps this afternoon which I could have done without.
Good news: They looked like they had spent too long sitting down in cars so we took a refreshing walk up the stairs at fit cyclist pace. Right next to the lift.

They were of course too polite to say anything.

Bad news: I dropped my camera this morning.
Good news: the camera itself seems to be OK, the impact being taken by the lens, which is replaceable.
Bad news: the lens is about £300
Good news: it may be covered by insurance

I attempted some DIY today and managed to successfully replace the washers in my kitchen tap to stop it dripping. Woo hoo.

I now seem to have a leak after the isolation valve. Boo hoo.

Sometimes these valves weep a little bit after turning on/off, especially if they've been left in one position for a long period of time - the isolation valve on the feed line of my washing machine did a spectacular impression of a fountain when I opened it after installing the new washer but its been bone dry on the outside since.

I recently had a damaged Nikon 70-300 AF mechanism repaired and a D7000 checked and adjusted as the lens was on the body when it got damaged.   Not cheap but all less than half the cost of a new lens.

Assuming both PCs are in the same room(and you only ever use one at a time), the cheap way around this is one of these:

It's how I managed to use 2 laptops on my desk, with one HUGE (28") monitor.

Thanks for that ^^^^^

atm I quite like having one less monitor on the desks.

It's likely that I'll make more use of my laptop & Marj's monitor will go back to the Sage PC.

Good News: I just found out today that my employer's bike to work scheme limit is now £2,000 1

Bad News 1: Scheme entry is in March

Bad News 2: I just found out today that my employer's bike to work scheme limit is now £2,000

1People erroneously think that the limit is £1,000 - it is not. That is the limit that the employer can provide without a consumer credit license and is therefore the most commonly found limit. If they have a CCL, the absolute limit is (I think) £2,500 if they wish to.

Good news: I have a new pair of mitts, with - as yet - no wiped in snot marks ( ::-)).

Bad news: They are 'classic crochet backed' mitts. I might be turning into a hipster! Could this be start of a slippery slope leading to a purple and lime green fixie with white disc wheels and no bar tape?

Good news: exercised enough willpower to leave the works do (read: piss-up) in a suitable condition to cycle home.  :)

Bad news: didn't have enough willpower leftover to resist the temptation of the chicken shop around the corner when I arrived home.  :(

Good news: I've just saved £600 by not having to go to the specialist Dentist on Tuesday for a complicated root canal.

Bad news: Because my tooth just split in half from end to end.

Good news: I now fit in XL shorts rather than XXL shorts :)
Bad news: cost me £61 to work this out ...

(to be fair, though, I desperately needed a new pair - with the existing ones my modesty, such as it is, is in dire peril)

Good news: Both papers I & colleague submitted were indeed accepted for publication at conference.

Bad news: Stress of writing 2 papers at once, and the 2nd one is only accepted for an ePoster but it still means I have to write a full paper. (Only submitted cos mentor told me to and I was hoping it would get bumped altogether).
