The local burglar alarms celebrated for twenty minutes...

*twitches*

Living, as we do, in an area where 90% of the houses are unoccupied outside of term time, that sort of thing happens rather a lot.  One day I'm going to start shooting out bell boxes.

Good news:
#1 son has moved back into the Bournville house.  I no longer live alone when I'm in Brum.

Bad news: it looks like the cassette joint on the orange Genesis has died a rather messy death.
Good news: I'm sorely tempted to ride Pugsley to work tomorrow. Just because ;D

my final commute before I left London was on the Pugsley for exactly that reason.

Go for it! I guarantee you'll be :D :D all day.

The big problem with that is that I lose the 'stealth' element - you can hear Pugsley coming a mile off because of the tyres, whereas the Genesis is absolutely silent now that the canned gears have been run in.

Also, I'd probably be too tempted to ride over directionally-challenged students rather than around them  :demon:

Running over the students is the fun part, they hear the ominous rumble of an approaching fat tyre and freeze like a rabbit in the headlights :D

Some people might say it makes it too easy....

It'd also give the larval-stage hipsters something to talk about over their skinny frappacrappaccinos ...

... that in itself is a fairly compelling pro argument.

We want to see a video when you're done though. In fact it would be good to start a poll on how many DCSs and other mobile obstacles you get to ride over.  :)
I reckon:
Students 12
Other pedestrians 5
Car bonnets 4
Car roofs 2
Buses 2

Of course I have no idea how long or where your commute is...

Good news: My internet went down today for a while while they upgraded equipment in the local exchange. About time too, it has been like wading through treacle for months.

Bad news: My connection is still slower than 75% of the UK!

10 miles each way and in York, respectively.
I drove in to work today anyway - suffering from a mixture of general malaise and apathy; medication changes blow, big time.

There are two things missing from your list, though: cows and sheep - I usually ride across Walmgate Stray, between the barracks and the University, and its still used for grazing animals of the (b)ovine variety. Whilst the sheep tend to scarper, the cows will usually wander blithely across the path - since they're bigger than me I'm quite happy to let them have right of way.

However, once I've got my bike-cam setup sorted out (it'll be based on one of these: http://www.hobbytronics.co.uk/robotics/fly-cam-one) I think videos of various things might be a definite possibility.

EDIT: Oh, and rabbits too. Although they're probably too small to count.

It's still more than four times as fast as mine.  Must be due to the air being thinner up in those hills.

Yeah yeah  :P Is part of a decently priced bundle though and haven't had any problems with downloading too much (how could I at that speed?).

In Sky's defence our phoneline is knackered, if we even get a dial tone it's mega crackly so I'm surprised we get any internet at all, the 'nets been quite good lately up until the past day or so when the connection keeps dropping out.

I do need to get onto them to sort it but need to make sure it's a line fault rather than ours as don't want an absurd engineer call out fee.

Went for a run last night for the first time in ages. It was great, I got round the circuit without needing to walk and my body felt really alive. It left me feeling great.

My right knee is now swollen and purple. And my left knee is purple too.

Oh poor you. Hurty knees are no fun.

Oddly they don't hurt at all. Could be worse!

Oh!  Well that's alright then!  ;)

I hope it stays that way (non hurty, not purple! Unless you specially like purple.)

BN: Mrs T came home and said "Where's the rain? I would have come out with you on the bike ride if I knew it wasn't going to rain!"

Good news: finally finished stripping the bits off my Dave Yates frame.
Bad news: currently debating whether or not to put it on fleaBay.
