Good news: new bike arrives today; projected weight of 7.8kg, even with 25mm tyres and a cushy seatpost
Bad news: day from hell at work; no time to pick it up.

Pictures coming if I manage to sneak in before kids bike coaching tonight. Should look something like this

Does it come as standard with a magic levitating rear wheel, or is that an optional extra? :)

BN: our kettle made a loud noise yesterday and caused the trip switch to do what it's designed to do.

GN: the kettle still seems to work. I'm wondering if some water made a short circuit in the plinth. However, I am also quite wary of it and every time it finishes boiling we are switching it off at the wall.

Good News:  My new hifi speakers (Spendor A6R) and power ampifiers (2 x AudioLab 8200M) were collected from the shop a week before I expected them on Saturday.
Bad News: I bought the cables at the same time on Thursday, then I left them on the train. Thats £50 quid lost.

GN: it's my sister's wedding next Saturday.
BN: see above. (I have to organise An Outfit. I've spent the past two years being scruffy. This is a huge challenge.)

Good news: had an email from Back Country Biking last night saying that their back order of Revelate Designs luggage has arrived (after  it had what they describe as 'a month's holiday in Canada' thanks to customs) - I'm getting my replacement Viscacha seatpack at last

Good news 2: I'm apparently getting 'double Haribo' as a  thank-you for being patient ;D

Bad news: They now have stocks of very expensive, but beautifully made bikepacking luggage  :-\ (Alpkit are doing similar luggage for less money, but the Revelate gear is, y'know, available now and even if it does go out of stock they'll probably be available again before Alpkit get their act together)

Bad news 2: Apropos of Alpkit, they're now doing their frame bags in orange. Bastards! ;D Why bad news? I don't need another frame bag ...

And there's more:

Good News: Picked up my Mk2 Nexus 7 earlier on - the higher-res screen is truly a thing of beauty, it was just as easy to root as the Mk1 and is now free of Chocolate Factory shovelware. The Kindle app in particular looks absolutely fantastic.

Bad News: the various location aware Android apps I've written don't play nice with the screen on the Mk2, meaning that I'm going to have to get my head into Java-space again :( (and I f'cking hate Java)

GN: I have a bicycle jaunt planned for today.
BN: I have to stay at home to look after my ill son.
WN: We'll probably all get what he's got.
GN: I really need to catch up on some work anyway.
BN: I'll probably waste a lot of time posting stuff here instead.

BN: I'm also far, far behind on my cycling target (see ticker).
BN: I'll be busy most of the weekend too.
GN: There's always Monday.

BN:  It's almost 1 in the morning, I need chocolate and have none.

GN:  I've found an old mostly full bottle of whisky. (Behind the beans, of course)

BN:  It's Famous Grouse. (prolly provided by Grandma Basil last Crimble)

GN:  I'm not proud.  I've nicked the boy's bottle of coke out of the fridge and I'll render the stuff drinkable.

BN:  I've still not got any chocolate.  -   And I'm in Bournville fer crissake!
Admission.  I'm actually not that fussed about cake.

Bad news: We lost the spare key for my wife's car :(

Worse news: A replacement is £200!

Good news: We've now found the key :) In her coat pocket

Bad news: It's too late to cancel the replacement

Good news: The garage has just called to say in this case they can cancel :thu, bsup:

Blimey Kim.

You do know you can GAMI for that, don't you?

Were they any good? I don't actually mind the clean lungs feeling too much, but I do object to spending effing ages cleaning the oven and then feeling it's barely made any difference, despite leaving nasty chemicals on it for ages.

Maybe I should just try to cook more tidily ...

Oh, life's too short to clean the oven.  The lamp in there blew a while ago, so it doesn't actually matter how clean it isn't.  The hob and associated lid were in a right state, though.

I've discovered that degreaser is far better at cleaning cookers than cooker cleaning products, though equally asthma-inducing.  Beats scrubbing with detergent, though.

Lid? I remember having a cooker with a lid on the hob. Could never see the point of it. What is the point?

When down, it doubles the amount of available surface space in our kitchen.  As a bonus, you can use it to hide the state of the hob.

BN: Little Miss AWL has outgrown her Islabike Beinn 20

GN: She can have her brother's Beinn 24

BN: That means AWL Jr needs a new bike

BN: That means his big sister will also need one

GN: I have found a buyer for the Beinn 20, I think

GN: LMAWL has tired of the Thorn tandem, so I can sell that too.

GN: Frog Bikes seem almost as good as Islabikes and are £100 cheaper, plus they come with mudguards. This might be a self-financing arrangement!

Yes.  Very good.  They fixed the oven light because they had a few spares with them, and the stuff they dip your oveny bits in is less damaging that supermarket stuff, apparently.  A lot of it was done with a paint scraper.

A special bonus for me, having had two husbands who never, ever cleaned the oven, was having a man on his hands and knees in front of me, with a pinny on, cleaning my oven.

Gave me a proper 'little moment' that did, and I didn't have to pay extra for it.

That might just be me though.

Our oven's that bad that I'd be embarressed to GAMI. As in we've been here four years and cleaned the oven exactly zero times. The shelves and trays get cleaned but the the oven itself? shudders.

It even has a self clean function but given that I've short circuited the timer out of the thing and it's general condition I think it would just self immolate if I tried that.

I think we've got to the stage of just buying a new oven when it comes to it.

Was it the pinny that did it?
