You've changed defensive to cautious within an active survey when they do not mean the same thing. So a limitation is that the survey results do not represent the options available at the time some of the respondents answered. 
Which hardly matters since he has changed one completely nonsensical scale by another completely nonsensical scale and is ignoring the answers in any case because he has claimed to know what people mean when they tick the boxes.
None of it matters.  What we're doing is helping him with his homework, which is a good and generous thing to do.  It will form part of his diss and that's the end of it.
