Title: PBP - Technical question about organising qualifying rides
Post by: vorsprung on 21 April, 2010, 03:06:52 pm
I see the end of the qualifying period for 400s is the 3rd of June, which is a friday

If I started a ride at 10:30pm on the 3rd of June, would it count?  Or does it have to finish before the end of the 3rd of June?

The website (http://www.paris-brest-paris.org/pbp2011/index2.php?lang=en&cat=preparation&page=calendrier_brevet) says 3rd June, the Plaquette (http://www.audax-club-parisien.com/download/PLAQUETTE-FR.pdf) says the 4th June.

ha! so the mystery deepens

variant question:
*if* the 4th of June was right and I started on the 3rd of June, would I have to start at 9pm instead, or would I be ok with 10:30pm?

As 400km has a time limit of 27 hours

It'll be interesting to know the answer, but are you really planning on cutting it that fine?

I am running a 400km called the "Avalon Sunrise".

The concept of the ride is that you start at 10:30 and see the sunrise somewhere around Glastonbury
It runs on the weekend nearest midsummer, and with that start time and that date, the sun comes up for the typical rider somewhere near Glastonbury

If the date moves, so does the sunrise.  So the nearer I can get it to midsummer, the better

I don't think I will get lots of late entries from PBP hopefuls who failed on their first 400, because two 600 is as easy as a 400+600

The cut-offs are 'advisory'.

The cut-offs are 'advisory'.

Great, I will ask my local coordinator for advice then when it becomes time to do something about it

I mainly meant the other continent, silly - the one where they ride on the wrong side!
