Visited the stone circle this morning. The light was eerie and fantastic. The pictures do not do it justice-

Looks good
I do like Avebury, I'm fond of the neolithic and the ridgeway was a feature of my youth.

Good stuff, and you had them to yourself as well.  Always been thronged when I've been there.

Agreed.
Avebury is a magical place.
I have some B&W prints of shots I took there by moonlight, years ago.
It's very evocative stuff - I don't know why - perhaps it is because it seems a bit underated, as if it were Stonehenge's second cousin. Twice removed. Or something.
I think that actually adds to its attraction.

Nice one, M.

I love Avebury, and used to visit a lot when I lived at Lyneham - 'twas only just down the road, really. I do miss Wiltshire!

Agree - cracking shot and you were lucky to have it all to yourself!
Right! What's next?

Ooooh. That sounds like a daft idea.  I am in!

I prefer it to Stonehenge.  It's so accessible.

Stonehenge is never quite as big as you expect but Avebury is much bigger than you expect.

Nice photos, I was planning to go in the snow.
