Emergency call outs permitting, I will be heading out to the SH this week.  Tomsk - any chance you can bring along a brevet for Dick Turpin’s Day Out and also Bricks and Moretaine?  I am hoping the weather plays ball for my upcoming week off and allows me a couple of days out.

Any suggestions for an appropriate venue for May Day this Wednesday? I suggest the Maypole in Thaxted and the Maybush in Great Oakley (near Harwich) might be a bit out of the normal MEMWNS range ...

Was it May day when there was all the Morris dancing at Walnut Tree?

ETA it was 25/05/22. - Next 15 May 24 https://www.chelmsfordmorris.co.uk/calendar

There's a maypole in Tolleshunt

The Queen's Head, Tolly D'Arcy closes at 22:00, so there's a fighting chance I could be home before midnight! And then the Walnut Tree on 15th?

I think the QH is more of a food pub now? (Pies look nice though) - about 1.5h ride for me, so a 10pm enforced finish works for me... (I expect it'll be 10.30 by the time we've faffed!)

I think The Family Cyclist was after coming out to play too... ??

How many are expecting to be out?

If I'm the only Eastern rider feel free to plan a more central location, I won't be out late anyway as will be coming off a night Wednesday morning

I'm doubtful for this eve unfortunately. Probably need to do my share of helping with kids at bedtime having been at work for last 4.

Wow that was an interesting venue on the basis of the cliental! (whilst the card tricks were impressive, the bloke was a bit too overbearing!) not sure it did enough to get a permanent fixture on "the list" but at least there was a maypole to see from the car park.

Also nice to have a visit from the bog  snorkelling world champion hopeful, fresh from his training in the parish of Southwold (and smelling all the better for his post training shower!)

So I mistakenly thought it is Walnut Tree tomorrow but that's 15th, so where to tomorrow?

Last week easterly, next is central, maybe a westerly-ish venue? Depends is there are any takers from out west - I'm available (but not next week).

If going westerly-ish I'll pass this week to catch up on domestic stuff and look forward to Saturday.
I'm going to be all at sea the next couple of weeks too!

Our favourite western venue, The Black Lion? Any other suggestions?
