Buggritt. Done my knee in. Now with pictures.
« on: 10 October, 2010, 06:13:15 pm »
This morning playing 5-a-side.
It's a dangerous game..............

I caught my foot in the turf and felt and heard something snap.
Naturally I thought the worst, as men one does  ::-) .
A trip to A&E later and it turns out to be a twisted knee with no ligament or tendon damage (I'd imagined all of the above).
Six weeks before I can play again but I hope that I can do some light cycling as part of my rehab before then.

It's a bummer because I was getting fitter for football, I've got a few potential rides coming up and I can't drive.

Expressions of sympathy (and ridicule) gratefully accepted.

I'd only played for 20 minutes but, apparently, I can't get a refund from my mates  ;)

On the positive side, everyone's legs turn to mush about now because of reduced day length.  I was feeling stupidly strong on Friday night* but very soon I will have all the power of Eddy Merckx...'s granny.

*not strong enough to keep pace with Teethgrinder up Chinnor Hill, but I'm not sure he's human

Ah, you see.  The round ball game.  Never ends well.

Stick to pedalling around ;)

Hope you get well soon to do so.

Sympathies from here - I've had to take it easy after a slightly drink-related but mainly Welsh mud-related accident in August.  Knees is bastards.

Kicking a football is very bad for you. So is anything associated with that sport.

Have more sense and get well soon!

I amazed/dismayed at how swollen and painful it was when I got up this morning.

You seem to be developing a vagina in that photo. I think you better get it looked at.  ;)

If someone can advise me how, I'll move this to Health and Fitness.

I've torn my ACL and I can either choose to leave it and never play football or ski again or I can have surgery to repair the tear.
So surgery it will be...........................  :'(

Not necessarily true about the skiing.

I have a mate who skied (on Telemarks for pete's sake) for many years with a ruptured ACL.

He did have strong legs though.
