OK, so lets try again.

I know Deano is out in parts forrin* next week, but I promise a) not to get stressed with work and b) plan to drive ~300 miles on Wednesday, so I am in.

Obviously no Mrs T's brother, as he has gone back down South.

Any one else able to come out for a bike ride?

*The Lake District, it's not in Yorkshire, so it's forrin.

Maybe, Phil.  I'm trying not to make plans because if I feel ill I end up cancelling them at the last minute.  But it'd be lovely to catch up, anyway  :-*

I'd really like to do a ride which includes Daisyhill, but that is a challenge due to fitness. Had a good evening tonight at the Station House in Durham, but that was a pub/dog walking outing. Would also be nice to meet all the northeasterners... Do we plan this pub trip too frequently for everyone to make it?

I always read this thread and I'm always disappointed that I can't make it. :(

Well, the pubbe runne in ye olden days was always planned around who was coming, ie the least fit rider could do the ride, at least in theory.  The point was the social aspect, rather than the ride itself.

I could rarely make it myself because of my old job, but sometimes I'd drive over after work in the car to say hi to everyone, especially if Crusty had done the ride.

The day was fixed because it started at tiermat's house and he has a young family, and the ride worked around that.

It's a good three years since I participated really, because reasons, and the pub run has probably evolved a lot since then.

Crinklylion can't really make it any more for starters.

So I should probably shut up.

I would love to come occasionally, but I wouldn't want the event to be planned around my needs cos I'm very unreliable and still at the baby steps stage in my return to cycling! (Laid up with bad back today😒) However, if perhaps once a month or every other month the pub could be very close to a rail station that would make it more of a possibility for the likes of me...

Every week is always going to be difficult because of other commitments (I have a proper job now, darnit) but I would make extra effort for a ride that included daisyhill. And tandems make things easier y'know. Just saying.

Can you make it up Durham way? Not quite Northallerton, but we have an excellent straight-from-the-cask pubbe!

Sorry Phil.  I have enough spoons to do a nice bike ride, but nowhere near enough for logistics to and from NTR.  Another time?

Well I enjoyed it! No rain but lots of puggles, wet feet now! I did a run to Maunby, throwing in an extra loop of Back Lane. That is where I met Lake Michegan on it's holidays! Full width of the road and very long! So I went back around and had a couple of pints in The Buck, which has changed hands, again! No more beef dripping chips, but fresh, local food at a reasonable price!

If tomorrow evening is as nice as today's, I'd be up for a ride?

If you can get over to Darlington Lindsay maybe I could meet you at the station and we could go for a potter round the lanes?  I don't know what the trains are like from where you live.  I don't really know the pubs round Darlington but we could invade a random one and see what happens?

I reckon if we ride out to the Crown at Kirklevington, that's a pretty nice run, then the options are to get a train back from Yarm or ride back to Darlington.

Opinions welcome.

eta:  the direct trains back to Saltburn finish at about 20.30.  A circular ride is possible thobut.  What d'you think Lindsay?

Work has intervened, unfortunately.

So unless anyone else is planning to turn up, tonight's cancelled I'm afraid  :-\

Anyone up for this week? Weather looks like it is improving and Catalonia has shown me that I need to get more miles in!

Not me, I'm afraid. Unless you all fancy Great Ayton. I need to be banking sleep this week.

Yes, I'll be there. Could do Great Ayton, but I'll stick to the classic Northallerton run if that's the preferred option.
