We need the people who are coming from farther afield to make the call - I can do Darlo (obviously), or Yarm, or wherever.

Last train to Boro is 22:38, so we could do Darlo.

Darlo it is! We can still have a loop out, and I'll think of a pub. Food required?

Hole in the Wall? Decent food (albeit usually served on a slate) and beer, some railings outside for bike locking-up purposes.

It's in the Market Place, next to the Dolphin Centre - just aim for the town clock and you can't miss it.

The Voodoo Lounge does damn good food, but the Sheffield stands are around the corner, which isn't ideal: http://voodoocafe.co.uk/ourmenus/

There's a 'Spoons too...

Hole in the Wall for 7-ish sound OK?

50 miles to Darlo and the last train  home is 22.27.  Yeah go on then, I'll have time to join you for a drink.

All sounds good to me! I'll ride out and train back.

Can anyone recommend a route from Billingham (Cowpen Bewley)?

I'd probably do Junction Road-Darlington Back Lane-Sadberge, then pick up the cycle path alongside the A66 until the end of the dual carriageway, hop over and down Haughton Road into town. Probably busy.

Alternatively, Elton-Long Newton and along the old railway line from MSG. This includes more Stockton but will be quieter on the whole, but it's a tricksy route if you don't know where to find the badly-signposted cuts away from the through roads.

Or quieter but longer - Wynard-Thorpe Thewles-Bishopton-Little Stainton-Great Burdon-Haughton Road. It should have quietened down by the time you get out of Billingham.

I am, of course, available to meet up and guide folks into Darlo. Let me know, or else I might do some overtime. Or go for a bike ride.

The Hole in the Wall in the marketplace. Next to the Dolphin Centre.

I am going to be heading in via Scorton, Moulton and Stapleton, if you fancy riding out that way?

The train might be preferable in this wind!
