The Sempre Con Te project and exhibition* that I spent many months working on in Sydney in 2005 has just been given AU$8000 by the Powerhouse Museum to add to the AU$7000 already raised so that we can put all our work into a book which we can now publish ourselves!

*About the migration of Italians to the Northern Beaches area of Sydney, particularly focusing on the women's stories.

All the research for the above article was conducted by my daughter, who is on a 3-month placement with Intelligent Giving as an introduction to the world of work. I was instructed to buy a Grauniad this a.m.

Said daughter was a bit miffed by inaccuracies in the article: Adam Rothwell is her manager and although he did none of the on-street research, is the man with links to the Grauniad. Mostly, the paper seems to have got it right though. 8/10. :P

Do truffles last for 27 years?

In my experience, they don't get past 27 minutes. Mmm apricot parfaits.

I should have internet at home tomorrow night! *does happy dance*

I am surprised they even last that long.  I was thinking more of 27 seconds.

It depends how big the pile is. I can eat a lot of Thornton's apricot parfaits very quickly though. Not so keen on the white chocolate ones though.

I truly dislike the apricot ones but am rather partial to the white choccie ones, perhaps we could split them between the two of us and demolish them as swiftly as possible.

A few months ago my iPod was put through our washing machine along with my cycling gear - I thought it had died completely - black screen, no power up even after leaving it to dry for a week, (and it had gone through the machine while it was still switched on, so I guessed the circuits would be fried).

I've got a 4 hour train journey tomorrow, so thought I'd give it one last shot...

IT LIVES! :D

(Only problem is all my pairs of headphones are full of sand from beach outings in the summer - they're like miniature rattles :-\).

Feeling very chuffed.  Just  passed my HGV medical ( at my age they come every 5 years ), and although I no longer drive an LGV in anger, keeping the licence is a "safety net" in event of catastrophic job loss.

The really exciting bit , " you have the blood pressure and resting heart rate of a 21 year old"   . Woo Hoo...maybe this cycling lark is good for me after all.

Shame that my eye sight is somewhat borked..the burgers at the DVLC may not take totally kindly to that part of the medical, will just have to wait and see.

Some scrotes nicked £259 off my Mum's Barclaycard a few weeks ago which in turn caused her to get two £20 overdraft fees on top. She's been worried sick about it and quite ill for the last few days. I have just spoken to her and she says she feels much better today. Oh and she had a letter off the bank to say that she would be getting her money refunded. Coincidence? I don't think so. Her physical and mental health are so intricately linked these days that I would go as far as to say that the fraudsters not only nicked her money but made her ill into the bargain.

Your poor mum. I know how badly that affected me when I was defrauded, so I can only imagine how badly your mum took it.  :(
