I think our attendance is in the balance, TBH.

The girls are out skating - not sure if they'll prefer to stay put when they get back, and boablet-the-senior is still to surface; he's also been suffering with Teh Lurgy, so might be hibernating today.

Discretion, valour etc. No cycling tonight but we are going for beer (well, so far myself and Dave notp are), going to be at the Stumble Inn for about 7.

Today we had our coffee stop at Roots and are tempted by their steak night on the 22nd.
Anyone else? It's not cheap. Let me know and we'll book a table.

I have almost popped in there a few times but decided against it and pressed on, is it good as a coffee stop?

It's the first time I've been, having ridden past loads of times. It's a bit too close to home when I'm audaxing.
We can't really give a proper review as we didn't eat anything- I had a glass of milk and a mug of hot water (hard to get wrong) and Mr Smith went crazy by getting a black coffee.
However- their menu has 'Scone of The Day' (someone tell Kajsa!) and the queue was almost out the door. My oppo at work tells me they get their Christmas meat there (and this from a family within range of Blackwells at Norton which IME is a very good butcher) so I have high hopes for the Steak.

We used to go there all the time.  It's a worthy destination for a leisurely bike ride.  The stew of the day is invariably stewpendous.
Milk please, no sugar.

Thanks Ladies, I'll defo try and check it out... it's certainly too close on an Audax from my parents, but on them outwards trundles like wot I was doing over Xmas it would have been a nice warming stop.... if I wasn't chasing some self imposed get home in daylight rule at the time

South, sadly (I want to check out an alternative finish for the DKKTR ride), with pies and pints/alternative beverages at the Dog and Gun in Knayton - http://www.dogandgunknayton.co.uk

Trains back to Boro are a bit shite (catch the Grand Central at Thirsk at 21.36 and change at Eaglescliffe for Boro), but it's handy for the A19 if someone wants to drive and meet us there.

Hmm. 25 miles from work is no problem, assuming I'm not on the ice bike, but home via Osmotherley doesn't really appeal.
We will discuss.

TT training on the A19 back home?

Tempting as getting some TT miles on the A19 always is, I'm on the ice bike today (it was 1° when I left the house) and that means just the one gear, studs, and a rucksack.

We'll skip this one.

Probably (usual caveats apply).
Likelihood increases the closer to Guis you get :)
