Title: Recommended"Ventoux"theatre restaging Armstrong v Pantani in 2000 Tour de France
Post by: RichMoss on 21 May, 2016, 11:06:20 pm
We've just been to see this play this evening - really well done, and would thoroughly recommend it.
A comparative re-staging of Stage 12 of the 2000 Tour (Pantani won in '98, Armstrong in '99) with the perspective of the revelations since.
For anyone interested - there's more info and venues/dates at http://www.2magpiestheatre.co.uk/ventoux.php (http://www.2magpiestheatre.co.uk/ventoux.php)

Over the course of the evening status changed from "Oh, I wish we hadn't got tickets, I'm really tired" to "I'm really glad we didn't miss it - that was excellent."

The whole audience seemed to enjoy it too (and they didn't all appear to be cyclists/ cycling cognoscenti either)  :)

Saw this in Leicester last year - extremely good bit of theatre, a great evening out (and non-cyclists will definitely get it too).
The pair doing it are really decent blokes as well!

Just got back from seeing this at the Stockton ARC with mcshroom and Jane NOTP.

It was excellent.  It took me right back to Pantani and cycling's glory days, before they all wore helmets, and it was all too good to be true, but damn it was a beautiful sport.

I'm being taken to see it in Letchworth next week.

I saw a publicity photo, and the idea of Lance Armstrong riding with a front reflector struck me as a bit odd :)

Enjoy!

Saw it in Oxford last year in an arts theatre just up the road from the running track where Banister broke the 4 minute mile for the first time.

Grab one of the publicity fliers if they are still available.  They look great when framed.

Bugger. I've been quite ill all week and now Mrs B has succumbed.
I just phoned Theatre Mwldan to tell them we wouldn't be attending tomorrow night and that they could re-sell sell the tickets.  (Good ones. Centre front row)
Bless them. They've given me a full credit on my account.   Much more than I was I was expecting.

Very disappointed though.
