National Rail website not working in Safari...

I think that may be my only option....

On the older iMac running 10.6.8 it's absolutely fine.

ETA - clearing history hasn't helped either....

Yup.
Works fine in FF & Chrome.

ETA - Also re-launched the browser, and re-started the machine.

Come clean time: Still don't really understand.

I find Safari to be excellent. I abandoned Chrome some time back since I didn't need cross-platform support. Occasionally sites don't work and require Chrome, but then it sometimes used to be the other way around.

Anyway, typically it's something in the cache that needs clearing.

Yeah.
Safari is my go-to browser, and seldom proves troublesome.
What's puzzling me is that having cleared the cache in it's entirety, and deleted all of the browsing history - it still won't load the NR site.

Are you sure you're going to the main NR page and Safari hasn't saved another destination on their site which is no longer functional?

ETA: proving my point, that page no longer works.
