I worked up in Meekatharra which is just on the fringes of the desert about 800km north of Perth. They had a golf course up there but obviously there wasn't much grass around and no spare water to keep a "normal" golf course alive, so the fairways were areas of red dirt where the bush had been cleared, and the greens had a light coating of oil to keep the soil in place
I don't play golf so I only went out there a couple of times for some late night sport of an entirely different nature
. It's amazing what a quiet and serene place the Aussie bush is
