Chapecoense

In these days of huge salaries and corruption in FIFA etc its nice to see that some can still act with kindness and class.

After the airliner crash that has wiped out the Chapecoense team the other Brazillian clubs have said they will loan them players and have asked the Brazilian league to protect Chapecoense from relegation.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

The side in Columbia they were gong I to play has offered a walkover so they are crowned champions.
It is simpler than it looks.

What has happened before is that the youth teams played the remaining matches, both sides.
That was after the 1949 Superga crash when the all conquering Torino team were all killed on the way back from a friendly with Benfica.

A slightly more high-profile example might be the Munich air crash.  I think players were lent,  notably Ernie Taylor from Blackpool (and ex-Newcastle).

\sorry about that. I heard it on radio Scotland and I found quite a few links to various news papers, Daily mirror, mail etc. I thought that link was ok. A quick search now though doesn't find anything.
