Bald Blackbird

I am feeding a host of flying things in the back garden. A regular visitor appears to have no feathers on 'his' bonce at all and he therefore looks like a mini vulture. A bit of googling suggests that this is mating stress and that he should recover said plumage in the autumn. Now, hair loss.........

Quite a lot of birds suffer a lot when they've got kids - just like yoomans really.

This morning we saw a female blackbird whose tail feathers had snapped. I think much of it is down to the fact that these species are out all day hunting for worms and stuff but they don't get enough nutrition themselves.
