Depends on what else is happening on the road.

If there is an accident, very few judges will back the roaduser on the wrong side of the road.

And anyway, in this case it was a rule of this race. If riders can't be bothered with rules of the road, they should at least stick to race rules! No need to piss off the volunteers running the race for you, and they are the ones who get the stick from plod and nimbys.

perception of risk /danger is completely different ,when competing .Not saying its right but riders will always take risks. and remember if theres no constant white line , your actually doing nothing wrong .

Not strictly the case. Riding withut due consideration. Furious riding.

This was scaring most of the pack. It was well out of order - well beond the extremes of normal racing.
