Title: Bike fit and saddle sores
Post by: riddon on 01 October, 2017, 11:23:40 am
Every time I ride a 200k Audax I develop a saddle sore in exactly the same place. Tried different bikes but with the same saddle and fit/ measurements. I do have one leg slightly shorter than the other due to an old break (about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch) and the sore develops on the short side. Wondered if I should drop my saddle a bit as I may be bit stretching my short leg down to the bottom of the pedal stroke and causing more chafe on that side. Or is there a way to build up the pedal to take up the missing length. Anyone else experienced this and if so any advice?

Leg length differences can be compensated for by:
- cycling-specific orthotics/ insoles
- different crank lengths
- cleat spacers
- pedal height modifications
- cleat position differences (quick and dirty option for minor leg length differences)

HK uses the first possibility, combined with either of the second or third possibilities, to provide leg length compensation.
