Fancy a pub crawl between all the UK pubs? Here is the shortest route. Change the speed via the dropdown top right.

Something like 49000 pubs? One for the retired amongst us...
-
Yes I just plot the shortest route at moment. I have the list of pubs and tgeir locations. So will merge the data at somepoint.

I have a dream !
-
I e. Even to, few of those ;D
-
There may be 49000 now. There will be many fewer by the time you finish. :(

As an engineering trainee my bunch of mates studying at AQAD Harefield came up with a logistical challenge, which was to drink in as many counties in one evening as possible. First attempt we managed nine and on the second 10. This was in the days of 6pm opening and 11pm closing.

Hmm, it's a very pretty picture but there's one missing close to me. It's a bit of a shit heap so I can understand why you didn't bother going in.

Calculated over two years using the pubs galore list. There were about 17 pubs they could not calculate directions for in their two year (elapsed) calculations. So quite poss, got the name of the pub and rough lat / lon?
-
That is brilliant! When it nipped over to Lundy Island, I actually felt a bit of sick come up as I got massively drunk in there and had a very unpleasant ferry ride back to the mainland the next day :P
-
Well, it visited all four pubs here. However, is does look as if it did a naughty 20 yards of wrong way on leaving The Porth. (The Porth being a few yards into the one way system.)
-
It appears to have missed the Lifeboat Inn in Selsey. ;)
-
It does quite well around here, but on Dartmoor it nips across the churchyard to the Drew Arms In Drewsteignton
-
Hang on, it's getting serious: It's missed the Country Girl!

Could that be the start/finish point?

At the default speed... What a work of art.

It's set to walking (stumbling?) mode. Because who would drive (or cycle) it?

He'll wear out his teeth faster than Shane MacGowan

A quick look reveals a number of pubs missed in FurryBootToon (one's I wouldn't want to visit, anyway).

Geography is not my strongest point, but that sounds impressive. Which counties, and did you have a driver?

Yes, two cars, two designated drivers.
We worked in Harefield and were staying in a hostel in Denham, so in fairly short order we had managed Herts, Bucks and Middx (we were working on traditional county boundaries). Then round to the M3 (this was 1980/81 and I don't recall how much of the M25 was in place) and off to the Surrey/Hants border for a swift two halves. Then headed Northish roughly Readingwards to knock off Berkshire (a Morlands pub possibly), then somewhere in Oxon and out to Lechlade in Glos. The final leg was to the Belle Vue in old Swindon Town (Wilts).
Why there ? My brother was a journo on the Swindon Evening Advertiser and this was his local. We made the front page the next day.
After that it gets a little blurry. I think we slept in the car near Silbury Hill and clambered up it next morning.
The next time we did it we moved a little faster and added a beer in Bath (Som) to the list.
Happy days.

How they did it is here.

The closure of pubs has certainly made the Harborne Run a lot easier. It used to be at least 10 pubs, 13 if you did everything including the Dirty Duck, Scarlet Pimpernel and Hillyfields. And then a (literal) dash back to the university for a last drink in the students' bar.
