Title: buying catfood
Post by: mrcharly-YHT on 10 February, 2022, 11:10:44 am
Normally just go to supermarket or garden centre. But, I'm sans car, and the unfillable furbag goes through nearly 2 boxes a week. She eats more than I do.
Catfood is something a bit bulky and heavy to transport on a bike!

So I thought I'd order a big bulk delivery online.

Erm, what!  Prices vary between 70p more per box than Tescos to £2 per box more!

[edit]
I've ordered from Zooplus, and in doing so, worked out that it costs as much to fill the kitten as it does to fill the car.

Your preferred suppliers don't seem to stock the standard catfood.

Zooplus accepted my order with 0.00 shipping costs.

I'm waiting for the phone call . . .

Both our pussels are on special diets (one renal, the other fat bastard).
I've bought from Zooplus, Pets At Home and another place I can't remember. All much of a muchness so I don't bother shopping around any more.

For dried food, we buy from our vet. It is cheaper than Pets at Home and the supermarkets I can be bothered to check. As she is on their Pet Health scheme, she gets a discount on each bag, and after 5 gets one free.

For wet food, the spoilt madam goes to Waitrose

We've been using Zooplus for several years, always good service (distribution centre in Coventy I believe), tho as a "Highlands and Isslands", yeah, I'd not be surprised if they levied additional carriage.

I also got an (unrequested) 10% discount code because they delivered late, which was a bonus as its' not usually a time critical  delivery.

Well, they've shipped it. No extra charges.

Since a dog will be arriving sometime in the next two months, they might be getting quite a bit of business from us.

We get ours from Zooplus - big bags of Science Plan (I have no idea what Science is involved). Always reliable and they sometimes throw in a random free toy that the cats thoroughly appreciate destroying.
