Here's one from the Graun, topically on weights & measures.

Got 15/18; the ones I got wrong were the decimetre, the pecks, the grains.
-

2022 Quiz of the Year. 9/30 for me.
I don’t think I knew any of the answers so scoring over 25% is a bonus, given that there were 4 possible answers provided for each question.

https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2022/dec/20/fingers-on-your-buzzers-its-joe-lycetts-quiz-of-the-year
Joe Lycett's Quiz of the Year.
11/20. I think all the answers I got right, I knew. None of the guesses.

11/30.
I only knew three.

10/20. I knew 6.

12/30
Yay!
-
https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2022/dec/24/nature-news-quiz-of-the-year-aoe
13/25. Some educated guesswork, but quite a few I already knew.
-
13 here too. My shame knows no bounds.
-
To my shame, I scored something like 10 :-[
-
3/10 for me.
“Oh dear!” admonished the Graun’s Virtual Schoolma’am.
I thought that was pretty good tbh. I was confident of two of my right answers and the other was a lucky guess.
-
https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2023/feb/23/a-proud-shark-an-uncertain-scientist-and-a-broken-dog-statue-take-the-thursday-quiz
6/15!
One lucky guess. The rest I could either work out or remembered reading somewhere, eg the smashed balloon dog artist. Wouldn't have got their name without it being multiple choice.
-
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-64825206
4/7
I knew three of the answers so that's about right.
-
I just hit 17 on today's Wordiply. Highest up to that point was 13. Quite chuffed with that.
However, in arithmetic that makes you cringe, I'm told that "Your best guess was more than 100% as long as the longest common word!?"
-
https://www.theguardian.com/football/2023/mar/22/football-quiz-can-you-identify-these-stadiums-and-pitches-close-to-water
10/18 for me. Not bad, considering I had never heard of some of the football clubs mentioned.
-
https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2023/apr/13/the-guardian-thursday-quiz-general-knowledge-topical-news-trivia-103
3/15.
one I knew, one was a lucky guess, the other a maths question in which my answer made sense to me but I had no knowledge which allowed me to confirm it. It was the deceleration one. I should have got the probability one, but failed to consider all the possibilities and just guessed.
-
https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2023/apr/20/the-guardian-thursday-quiz-general-knowledge-topical-news-trivia-104
11/15. Probably my best score ever, and none of them was a wild guess.
Edit: yes it was: the flag question. I know pretty much nothing about flags.
-
If you do the Guardian Quiz on a Thursday, you can expect similar, if not identical, questions in the BBC's Friday Quiz.
-
https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2023/may/11/the-guardian-thursday-quiz-general-knowledge-topical-news-trivia-107
7/14 for me today. I think I knew 3 or 4 and was luckier than usual with the rest.
For a bonus point, guess which question made me laugh out loud. ;)
-
https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2023/may/25/the-guardian-thursday-quiz-general-knowledge-topical-news-trivia-109
6/15
Some wild guesses in that lot.
-
12/15
i guess i guessed better than you.
-
Be my guessed.
-
https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2023/aug/03/the-guardian-thursday-quiz-general-knowledge-topical-news-trivia-119
8/15 for that.
-
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-66808672
1/7 for me there. I didn't know any of the answers and was even below par with my wild guesses.
-
https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2023/sep/14/guardian-thursday-quiz-general-knowledge-topical-news-trivia-125
Whereas 11/15 in that one, and none of them was a guess.

Having signed up to an OU course, I'm automatically a member of the OU Students' Association.
And I've joined their chess club.
Tonight they had a start of term quiz related to chess trivia. Modesty forbids me from saying who won, but I could remember stuff from years ago which would have been long before most of the students' parents were born. One question involved a specific flavour of yogurt...
I was crap at anything recent though.

7/15. And I genuinely knew 5 of those answers - but not the Chinese Chess one.

They had another quiz just before Christmas. I won that too.

22/60
There were just too many questions about activities that are not real sports: golf, motor racing, and stuff that is only played by USAninans. :demon:

Not really a quiz, but what's termed an "Arena". It's a 90 minute tournament organised on chess.com. Last night's was a chess variant I've never played before - "3 Checks Chess". Basically, if you get your opponent in check 3 times, you've won.
It was a lot of light-hearted nonsense. But I'm sorry to say that my fellow students at the OUSA chess club are pretty crap at chess. I completed 19 games last evening within the allotted 90 minutes and won the lot. There were 7 of us all told. I scored more than twice as many points as the player in second place.

7/15 for me. I have been aware for some time of the existence of someone called Taylor Swift, but knew little to nothing about them until recently, when I found out that they were female. Now I have answered correctly a question about them on the Thursday Quiz. Go Me!

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2024/mar/23/covid-quiz-listen-alongs-and-lockdown-parties-how-well-do-you-recall-the-pandemic
The Covid quiz.
6/14 for me.
-
https://www.theguardian.com/theguardian/2024/apr/01/april-fools-day-news-quiz
Grauniad quiz on April Fools. Quite amusing. 13/20 for me.
-
A quiz on 1984.
https://www.theguardian.com/two-plus-two-equals/2024/apr/03/how-well-do-you-know-orwells-1984-take-the-quiz-to-find-out
7/10 for me, although that was really 7/9, because one of the questions was nothing to do with the book, but a film (of which I had never heard) made years later and purportedly based on the book.
-
12/15. The three I got wrong were matters of knowledge of geography (Edinburgh, Oxford) and history (ASCII) rather than the rules of the apostrophe.
